Guest guest
Also, do you experience severe breaking out that start like little pimples and turn into sores that seem like they never want to heal up? > a a, Yes, I get the same sores that you do. I have had them under my arms, on my thighs, and sometimes on the face. They can become quite tender. They resemble pimples and look like they are festering, but they don't. If I am lucky enough, they appear to dry out, then the head flakes off. I was hopeful that the information that Jerry found would give me some insight into these bumps, but the information on petechiae said that petechiae spots are NOT raised. Believe me, the spots that I get ARE raised. I don't dare even itch them because they will become larger, sometimes as large as a dime/nickel. I believe they have a lot to do with stress because this Christmas vacation, mine have all but disappeared. My doctor has given me an antibiotic that I can use if they become too painful and too large. I have only used it once, but I have been tempted several times. Jerry or anyone else, do you have any ideas what these sores are and what causes them? My GP said they are a side effect of prednisone, but at the time I was only on 2.5 mg. I also had these bumps appear two months before I was officially diagnosed with AIH or even on the meds. I sure hope someone can give me some information. Guest guest
I have had them at the beginning of my diagnosis. They were very painful, festered, then broke open and finally dried and healed. I tried every type of ointment. My internist sent me to a dermatologist to have them cultured. The report came back as "dermatitis." Great. That meant nothing. After I began treatment for AIH after several months (almost 5 yrs ago), they finally went away for good. Once in a great while a tiny one will pop up, but disappear quickly. I remember them as being very painful, but I also recall that once they broke they were very itchy. I did not have any on my face, but mostly on my trunk. Hope this helps. gina

Guest guest
I get red bumps all over my thighs and stomach. I noticed these several years ago around the same time I started feeling tired and sensed something was wrong. They almost look like they are inflamed hair follicles, but maybe not. They look just like pimples. I never thought too much of it. Then, last year, I started treatment for AIH and they have gotten much better. They do, however, reappear when I have a small " flare " (i.e. when I feel very tired and not well). I also get ulcers on my tongue (red in the middle with a white border..they start small, grow larger and then disappear after a week or so), I think it is " geographic tongue " . Anybody else with this? I have had a Lupus panel recently come back negative...but I think there is something brewing for me. Thought I was the only one with the bumps!!
