Marty,

Welcome to the group. My name is and I live in Virginia. I started Weight Watchers and lost down to my goal weight as they reduced the Prednisone to a minimal amount. However, I had a flare and they upped it again and the weight came back. Since then a lot of other health issues have happened and I have not started back at WW. The group I belonged to was very supportive and the leader even suggested that I get a note from my doctor advising that it would be difficult for me to continue to get some of my money back. I didn't do this as we were almost at the end of the session and I had lost the weight I wanted. My Hepatologist said it was a good diet to follow and my experience was very good there. I guess all groups are different. This one was in a small rural area where everyone knew every one there. Maybe this made a difference.

My two cents worth is it was an easy diet to follow and it worked. I would recommend trying it if your doctor approves.

I would talk to a few different group leaders before you totally give up on weight watchers. When and if my scale starts going up I intend to join weight watchers. Some weight watchers groups are held at hospitals, wonder if they are a little more lenient when patients are on meds.

When I was first diagnosed (many years ago) I was losing weight and

even though I felt terrible I loved being thin. I was 40 years old

and able to wear my daughter's clothes, and she was in high school.

Now I have gained 50 pounds over about 10 years and I'm so

discouraged. I joined a gym in October but had to stop when I got

sick in November. I'm starting up again and hoping I can keep it up

this time.

Just saw my GI, and he says I don't need another biopsy since my labs

are almost normal and there are no other signs that things are not

going well. I only had one biopsy, at the time of diagnosis, and

that was about 14 years ago. I've been plugging away on Prednisone

and Imuran ever since.

I love reading all your messages every day, even though I don't

always join in. It is so nice to know there are others out there

experiencing the same things. I think it's awsome that some of you

have been able to meet in person. Thanks to all of you!

Love,

Marty in Michigan
