The marks on my legs are just horrible stretch marks. The derma said that the skin had just got so thin that it began to hemmorage ( excuse the spelling!)hence the raised red/purple lines. Unfortunatly this means there is nothing they can do about them, so I'm left horribly disfigured. ( sorry am felling the strain of the physical changes, being young the pressures of 'perfection' are high, especially when 14months ago I didn't have any kind of cellulite or stretch marks and was a perfect size 10.) My doc said he didn't think the marks were ugly... he's such a bad liar!! Anyway thought I'd keep you updated! Best wishes Lui (age 22 London UK) , although stretch marks don't disappear, I believe they lighten, become more "silvery" in appearance. I know that's small consolation right now, of course. It's okay to grieve over the trivial aspects of the disease. We all had expectations of life which are greatly changed. We're the same people we always were -- and we're different people. Guest guest
'We're the same people we always were -- and we're different people.' Very profound by sooo true, thats exactly how we are! I like some of the things I've become, and glad I've lost some of the things I was! Thanks for your support.
Guest guest
Hi , I understand exactly what you're going through. I have all those lovely marks too. It was from the sudden weight change my doctor thinks. You can try to use creams and all that stuff, but really they don't do much. In time they start fading, or so I'm told. Mine have faded somewhat and aren't as dark purple as they were, but I still have them and I know that I always will. I'm scared to wear a bathing suit and stuff, but most people know why I have them, so I'm not too worried. Anymore. Took me a while to think this way though! I hope you feel a little better knowing that there are other people that have to deal with this too that are young! I'm also 22! Hang in there! Guest guest
, I know how you feel. It'll get better. I've been going through this for 4 years, and finallly have normal labs. The stretch marks have faded and I'm pretty much back to my old size. I know the " pressures " you're talking about, but as you start feeling better, your confidence comes back, or at least mine did. Anyway, hang in there. -Mari (21)from Texas

Thanks again! (age 22, London UK) I haven't had stretch marks although I gained 40 pounds in six weeks, on a 5'6 frame -- oops, now 5'5"--, but from what I've seen on other women over the years, the stretched skin goes back to its previous color but remains shiney and very smooth. I wonder if that's the case for people who have dark skin. Harper
Guest guest
Hiya, don't worry about the strech marks or being a size 10 it really is nothing in the great realm of things. The main thing is you are here and can overcome everything. Jeanette UKticklemelui@... wrote: Hi all,I went to my doc's this morning and managed to see a dermatologist quickly. Guest guest
To All Thanks for the support. Everyone tells you that the marks will fade, but because they are not on the drugs we are, and their bodies don't really work the way ours do, so I don't really believe them. Its good to know that others have got them and that they do fade. I was just a bit freaked as my doc wasn't sure if they were just stretch marks (cos they are so bad) and the dermatologist really had to convince him they were. Feel much better now that I know they will actually fade. Thanks again! (age 22, London UK)

Guest guest
Thanks for the useful information!! I will have to try the body shops vitamin e cream too! Anything is worth a try for me! I'm dealing with it better, but I still would like them to fade quicker!
