Guest guest
Janice, What is the pain pump you are talking about? I have full body pain everyday. Some days it isn't to bad, but when my pain flares I just can't function. I have Fibromyalgia full blown. It is hard to deal with. I take oxycodone and Nortriptalyne and Trazodone. gayle/trans.6-99 galye@... @` \I/
Guest guest
Dear Harper, Definitely clay colored stools are a concern but my brain is so dull right now I can't remember what causes it. I believe it is directly related to liver disease - don't let it slide this time!!!! Amy

Guest guest
Harper...Being in severe pain Ive experienced but a little different scenario....when in intensive care after my AAA op the pain was extreme...I had two iv's feeding drugs, one in arm, one in carotid artery in neck..I was eventually given something to knock me out but when waking I was almost screaming with pain...they knocked me out again....24 hours later still beside myself with agony I kept saying I wanted something for pain, they told my husband 'its OK she's not really in pain as we filled her up with the maximum morphine. I remember screaming at my husband to take me home out of this awful hospital and he was told 'its OK people on morphine can get abusive'. It was a nightmare with no one believing me I was in such terrible agony. The nurses were giving me my 'knock out' drug thru IV in arm and morphine etc thru the IV in my carotid artery.... I told them that I felt wet down my neck and I was told I couldnt be wet but I told them to feel my skin as it felt I had water pouring down my neck....they checked and yes I was wet, they took the large dressing off the IV needle in my neck and it was dislodged and laying across my neck...so it was apologies all round when they realised I hadnt in fact been getting any painkillers as the needle wasnt in my neck, the only relief I got was when they knocked me out thru my arm IV. Everyone apologised from the surgeons down and I tore a strip off every one of them for not believing a patient who constantly complained of severe pain and not being believed. It makes me shudder still at the memory. After that, recovery seemed a breeze. Love Jan Re: [ ] Digest Number 2834 A friend I've known for 40 years, a very sensible person, sent a disturbing message today. To summarize, his brother suddenly needed a liver transplant and was able to have one on an emergency basis. Somehow no instructions were left for pain medication after the transplant. When that oversight was discovered, no doctor was available to give orders. The nurses weren't able to give medication without instruction. Presumably as a result of the severe pain, the man suffered a major heart attack. This story seems too bizarre to be true, but the friend who wrote it is exceptionally level-headed.Harper
