Guest guest
Carol, this is not the first time that someone has gotten Cat scratch fever. Also, one time, there was a lady at work who was sick all the time. She ended up having Parakeet fever. She raised birds but it took some time before finding out what was wrong. Indeed, cat scratch fever can be difficult to find out what it is! Glad your friend was OK....at least I assume she was after treatment! Guest guest
I think the pigeon disease, which can also be found in chickens is called " ptticosis " . It gets inhaled into the lungs and can cause serious injury to them. I can't get the spelling right tho. Sorry! [ ] Re: Called the Dr. back....Carol Debby, actually it was my friends daughter - she was only 4 at the time. Scared the you know what out of her. She has always been a sick kid, so they assumed it was cancer when it grew so rapidly. It is amazing what these animals can cause. My former Stepmom (and when we say former we have a great big smile!) had constant chest and sinus infections. She and my father raised birds from the egg - cackateils, parrots, etc.... I guess there is a disease called 'aviary disease' or something like pigeon tender disease. It comes just like the other diseases we get from animals, when there feces dry and are 'powdery' and air born. Remember when our mommy's told us not to touch an injured or dead bird? I know that when I was diagnosed they told me to no longer handle kitty litter, just like when I was pregnant. I wasn't worried though, as I changed it daily, and gave the box a chlorine rinse. Have no more kitties though. Just dogs. Hey maybe I can convince the husband and kid it is 'seriously dangerous' for me to shovel there poop! Hmmmmmmm.......I think it might be dangerous for me to do dishes and laundry too...... Love, Carole K What kind of day is it going to be when you have to go back and attempt to type your own name three times?! > Carol, this is not the first time that someone has gotten Cat scratch fever. > Also, one time, there was a lady at work who was sick all the time.
