I may have been a little strong on the post I sent regarding the doctor 's statement about an autoimmune disease is an autoimmune disease... what he is saying is correct but the problem is they don't have a treatment for the underlying cause of autoimmunity. If they did then they could treat all the different kinds the same way, but now they have to treat the symptoms as they present themselves (From Harper, again) I agree. However, I think the realization that all these diseases share a common root gives us hope for future treatment that will attack the cause of all autoimmune diseases, as opposed to merely treating the symptoms.
