Guest guest
CONGRATULATIONS DEBBY!!! That is wonderful news. Keep up the good work. Hugs, Debbie/FL > Hi...got my biopsy reports today. Some good news for a change. The polyp biopsy was good. The doctor thought it would the " common " precancerous polyp, BUT it was the " common " beneign kind! Some great news! She was very pleased. She did note, however, that there was some blunting in my villi in the small intesting, but nothing that is not going to be cleared up with a gluten free diet. > > I did ask her about the jugular kind of liver biopsy. She flipped out and said the only reason she would do that procedure would be if there was a clotting problem with a patient or if there was a transplant. She told me NOT to worry about something like that. > > One thing that did happen, however, is that after my procedure with general anesthesia in the endoscopy lab, no more generals will be done in the lab, but rather, now, all will be done in the Operating Rooms. Personally, I think this is a better way to go. So...some good news for a change. > > My labs are also doing quite well. I get to go to 5 mg of prednisone now and stay at the 1000mg of cellcept. She is going to try a relaxer for me to take if I get muscle spasms. If this med doesn't work, then she will put me back on 6MP. > > Well....take care...debby

Guest guest
Woo, hoo, Marie! Good for you, to take this step. My gosh, I'm very familiar with hospitals and tests, but for some reason the liver biopsy really made me nervous. But it's the only way to tell what's really going on, and I'm so glad I did it. The test is simple, done literally in seconds, and with the lidocaine drip in my arm during the test, I slept most of the day. Only with all the information, will you be able to make informed decisions about your treatment. Best to you, Marilyn my biopsy I finally did it. I called my doctor's office and left a message that asked him to schedule a liver biopsy for me. He's always said it was up to me whether I wanted to have it done or not. Everyone has convinced me that I really should do it. Hopefully, I'll get a call back from him soon. I'll update everyone when I hear from him. Guest guest
Thanks for everyone's encouragement. I'm still a little nervous. I'll probably be praying the whole time. That always gives me strength. I probably wouldn't have even considered this step without everyone's support behind me. I sure hope the doctor calls back soon. I'm ready to go now. Guest guest
Good for you Marie!! Be sure to take someone with you when you go for the biopsy. Also, ask your Dr what kind of mild sedative he will be using. If possible, ask for Verced. They used it on me at USC for my last biopsy and it was a breeze!! I don't even remember them doing the procedure. There were no after affects from the drug either, although I was dopey and my mom drove me home. The next day I was still a tad dopey but felt fine. Don't forget to tell him you want a copy of the report. We will all be with you in spirit when you go. Guest guest
I see my doctor (the internist) tomorrow morning. I'm not sure what kind of doctor does the biopsy, maybe a gastro? I'll let you know tomorrow. Marie PS: I'm going to ask for the Verced, too.

Guest guest
Prayers will be with you tomorrow, Marie! My gastro was in the room when mine was done, but I think a radiologist actually did the test. Couldn't tell ya for sure though, the drip knocked me out right away <BG>. Guest guest
Thanks ..... that is pretty much the same experiences I had with biopsies..except they took only seconds and I had to lie down for a couple of hours after. Those who haven't had one yet ..this is by far the way they usually go. love jerry

Guest guest
Thanks Loes. Good to hear from you. I've been meaning to write you but never got around to it. I'm sorry . I hope all is well with you and that baby..(who is probably pretty big by now... has it been 2 yrs. yet?) I have a tattoo so I think you should go for it. One of my daughtes has two of them. They aren't just for bikers anymore. However anymore than two I don't think is good and it depends on the person and what it is. Mine I had done after my wifes death . It is a yellw rose entwined with a shamrock. Her favorite flower was a yelow rose and she always called me her little 'mick " due to my Irish heritage. Thanks again for the wishes and take care of yourself and family. love jerry

Guest guest
DebbieI certainly respect your decision and we know that your progress with the liver damage will be slow enough to wait. However, I'm not as big a believer in vitamins etc. as a few other folks are. I'm much more inclined to suggest to anyone - juice!! If you buy a juicer and then juice lots of fruits and veggies, it should also help with the weight loss and you'd be getting much better benefits than vitamins can give you. Just remember to not be quite as dumb as I was. The first time I got veggies to juice, I included spinach. Fortunately, I remembered before I juiced it.To this day, I still can not eat a whole lot of red meat. Of course, now that I'm clear of the virus, I could allow myself some red meat; but, I just don't often have the desire. I work for (bookkeeping) a fish market, so I can get all the fish I want and when I want. Then, I have a lot of chicken (with no skin).Since I'm on my own now, I eat a whole lot different than I did in the marriage. I use whole wheat Tortilla's instead of bread. I haven't eaten a potato except at my husband's since I came out here. Milk just goes bad in my fridge. I'd better boil all the eggs that are in my fridge soon now, or they are going to go bad. Now, if I could just stay away from those mint patties, I'd be almost eating so healthy that it would make one sick and I'd lose this extra 20 lbs. We just have to get together when I finally get my 5th wheel. I was hoping that I'd have it by this coming weekend; but, I'm not sure. It's going to feel like a palace though. The 5th wheel is a whopping 39' of true space. It means that I will have a separate bedroom that holds a queen bed and I can still walk around it. Then their is the kitchen with the usual dinette, which I'll probably change because I don't like the discomfort sliding in to that kind of seating arrangements. Finally, it also has a real living room!!!The reason I was really hoping that I could have it by this coming weekend, is because my son is coming up for a visit. It would have been real special to put him up on the sofa bed. However, thank heavens the arrangements have been made for this, because my boy has been showing some of his displeasure at how his mother has been treated. Never mind how the step-father has been, he's not happy with his step-brother or step-sister. He will definitely have something to say, if he runs into what used to be my grandson's, so they were sorta nephews to him. I think if his uncle, that is currently living with the husband, even so much as speaks to Shon, he may say things to him that will shock him. It is one of my brothers that I am talking about. He has learned well, to talk to me like he thinks my husband does and truly thinks he's getting away with it. Actually, if it doesn't change quite promptly now - I just simply will not speak to him at all!!Even when I tried to warn him about eating the liver that my husband had done for dinner, he leans his head so far backwards that he is looking down his nose at me and informs me that "didn't I think that the Drs are testing him for all these things". Yes, he started treatment for his genotype 3 and is having no difficulty whatsoever. Thank Gawd, he's been honestly ugly toward me with no riba rage to use as an excuse, so I sure wouldn't want to be there if he does experience riba rage. So, I'll see how far it goes and especially given the fact, that my son is certainly not a fighter! But, he could run circles around his uncle or hia sudo nephews and none of them would even see it coming.LOL - Gloria I trust this drs. judgement and I know several people that have used him and they had great results. He's thorough and takes the time to listen and answer any questions I might have. So I'm going to stay with him, He told me the less body fat you have, the better the results will be. He says the new drug should be out late spring to mid summer. My labs are good so that's one good thing. I have 40 lbs to go which will give me a better BMI. I will try the Milk thistle and I already take a multi- vit.without iron, I take Vit.D3. The ALA gives me major heartburn unless I eat something with it and that's even with taking omeprazole every day. I do value everyone's input on this. It can be very daunting. Gloria, my very first biopsy in Aug. '08' and the results were grade 1 stage 1. I eat lots of fruit and more vegies than I ever have. My red meat intake has declined greatly.
