Guest guest
Hi Bert, I admire you for being able to keep your fantastic sense of humor through all this! Love, P.S. I'm pooped today! [ ] Colonoscopy, done.....WHEW!! Hello everyone, I lived through it, but it was painful, even with the sedation! My GI wouldn't let me use any other method of laxative but the Nuletly (sp?).(already in the garbage) I could only drink a little more than half the GALLON! I couldn't believe how much there was of that stuff. I swear I thought I was going to vomit, and it was Cherry flavored. I had to mix it with Mountain Dew pop just to be able to drink what I did; my GI thought that was funny. He said if all is well with the biopsies, I won't need another one until I am 50. (that's still too soon for me....LOL!) He did 3 biopsies, one for Celiac, one for Crohn's, and I forget the last one. Otherwise my Colon looked healthy, except for the IBS he said. I am too be on a high fiber diet, but with Diabetes, it can be challenging; my GI understands that. So I wait until the results. He definitely wants to do the liver biopsy. I had anticipated that he was going to be reluctant as before, but to my surprise he was more than willing. He wants to check me for Lupus, AIH, and a few other things. (the process of elimination) Having with me all the time causes me to be distracted and I (sometimes) don't remember everything the Doc's say. I always have a re-fresher before tests anyways, so I don't worry too much about it when these things happen. I can't believe how much lighter and better I felt after having the procedure though; have any of you felt that way afterwards? Then of course I polluted my Colon and ate (some) pizza for dinner. (my treat for being a good patient) ) ) Hope you all are doing well...... HUGS... Bert.
Guest guest
Congratulations Bert for getting through this with such grace. I am not looking forward to the day when I need it - early May is my appointment and I have the laxatives waiting in the medicine cupboard already. I had one some years back and I remember a lot of gas trouble in the days afterwards. It was so awful I actually took an extra day off work. But maybe that was my personal reaction. How are you? You mentioned that a high fibre diet was recommended and that you have IBS. I have just found this great web site and have ordered the book mentioned in it after all this was recommended to me by a fellow IBS sufferer (a friend of a friend of a friend). Maybe check it out: http://www.eatingforibs.com/eatcook.htm As far as I understand it, there is good fibre and bad fibre for IBS sufferers. Hope you are havig a nice weekend with spring coming and all your boys simply adoring you. Take care, Sophie
