Kat - You mention you havent heard of struggles from the caregivers to

people with this disease. Im a caregiver, have been for 8 years to my 85

year old mother in law, but the situation is reversed, I have the disease

while she is old and still quite spritely. She lives with us. I know all

about the highs and lows of caring for an elderly person especially with me

being chronically tired and always (it seems) recovering from some type of

surgery. Occasionally, I feel I need a carer of my own although my husband

does his very best. A sense of humour is my biggest ally!

Jan,

I too use humor, sometimes of the sarcastic nature, to help get me through.

Mostly, I use exercise and work to " escape " and rejuvinate. A week ago I

had a serious cat bite to my hand, this has curtailed nearly everything, and

it has been tough (VERY) to keep the chin up. It definately helps to chat

with everyone in this group, hear of struggles and vicariously celebrate

triumphs, plus laugh at my own poor typing ability with the injury.

Thank you for understanding, and I highly respect your ability to cope with

elderly parent while dealing with this disease. I hope I can meet a man

with your husbands quality of support and understanding.

Best wishes for continued positive health.

Kat - So sorry to hear about your cat bite. I/ve only ever had one and that

is when I took my cat Sheba (a himalayan) to the vet. It felt like being

punctured by 100 needles all at once and remember it took ages to heal and

so painful.

Regards Jan
