My gp at first reccomended a sedative, but i said no. i was up every night, so i went back to my docs and saw a different one. she suggested quinine in tablet form, that was 3 years ago and i havent had an attack since. hope this helps. anita __________________________________________________________________________ Freeserve AnyTime - Go online whenever you want for just £6.99 a month for your first 3 months, that's HALF PRICE! Guest guest
Debby, From one insomniac to another, have you ever heard of "restless legs syndrome" ? I have normal liver, etc. However, I experience what I term crawling leg disease. Ie. I feel as if ants are crawling up the insides of my leg bones. Apparently in my case it is hereditary with me the worst of the family as I have it into adulthood. Interestingly enough, when my mom became ill she experienced this too. It worsened with the ascities, but improved when she did isometrics, and decreased her ascities and liver levels with increased exercise. For me I just have to sleep, sometimes with the aid of sleeping meds, and then it goes away (temporarily). There are lots of theories, and "treatments" but no cure. I'd check the website on it and bring it to your doc. Neurontin has helped diminish the severity of this for me, but may not work for everyone. Guest guest
Kat, I finally took a sleeping pill last night and it put me into a drugged state. I do hate it! I probably have restless legs syndrome, but think personally that most people have this at one time or another in their life. Regardless, I try to endure it. It seems that when my body is way too tired the legs jump more than normal. For the most part, I can avoid the problem. I will put lavender behind my knees and that helps greatly! But for the past week or so, I have not done this. Unfortunately, when I have a vacation, I stay up much longer and sleep in much later which interrupts my normal sleep cycle. It is important that I get back into the routine of things. Perhaps a morning or two of getting up at unheard of hours will put my body once again back into the normal sleep cycle! I have heard of that crawly leg problem. It must be terrible! However DO you cope with it? I hope you have a good weekend, and thank you for the information. Guest guest
, what is frustrating, is that I went to see my GP last week and she pressed and prodded and said it was just liver pain. She offered me pain meds, but I declined. So, after griping about this long enough, the pain has worn me down to where I will get something for it! I just hope my doctor is in next week! Thanks for the concern. Debby RE: [ ] No sleep for the weary Dear Debby, Please be sure to tell your doctor about the pain. Guest guest
Good! Let me know how it goes. Hopefully, they can rule out anything of concern. It’s good not to wait. Take care! Guest guest
Debby, When I work with cats dealing with liver and pancreatic disease, one of our mainstays is adding torbutrol for pain. I truly believe they feel better and have shorter recoveries, and better qualities of life with the addition. Of course the profession is still in debate about this needing scientific studies, but I believe in individual needs for the cat, and prescribe medication based on need first. I hope your pain resolves soon so you can again enjoy life. Kat RE: [ ] No sleep for the weary Dear Debby, Please be sure to tell your doctor about the pain.
