Guest guest
Hi, Is a doctor supposed to palpate the Thyroid gland during the exam? Is that standard or not? Did your doctor do yours? How else would you know if you have any growths? Thanks everyone
Guest guest
I went to an endo (first mistake), who looked at my list of symptoms and said I didn't have thyroid problems (even though the symptoms -- fatigue, low body temp, muscle weakness, weight gain -- are classic). She then did feel my thyroid and said that I " might " have thyroid problems. Then she had an ultrasound done and said that I " definitely " had thyroid problems. SO, yes, they should all palpate your thyroid. I've had many docs not bother, but they should, and if it's at all enlarged, they should do an ultrasound. : ) Amy ________________________________ From: Rosemarie <rosewood513@...> hypothyroidism Sent: Sunday, June 28, 2009 1:42:40 PM Subject: Question about the actual Thyroid exam Hi, Is a doctor supposed to palpate the Thyroid gland during the exam? Guest guest
Thanks Amy, Wow you had a great one too. I like my doc but I am finding more and more that he doesn't seem to care. I think he was sued or somethng cause he never toucvhes and there id always someone in the room, I don't wnat to tell my health secrets to a highschool kid no what I mean? I was one, I worked for docs. and I hated listening to that stuff, it was embarrassing. Thanks again. I hope you find the right doc. The problem is who do you trust? > > I went to an endo (first mistake), who looked at my list of symptoms and said I didn't have thyroid problems (even though the symptoms -- fatigue, low body temp, muscle weakness, weight gain -- are classic).
