It is great to hear that other people feel about

I tend to prepare very simple meals that don't use

The hardest time for me was last winter when it was

the rest of the day luxuriating in the warm knowing I

also hate housework and prefer to spend time with

people, reading, listening to music, being outside in

the garden or out walking.

I think kids rooms are the same the world over -- my

look. But it was awful wondering what might have been

Caroline, where in NZ do you live that you light the fire, get in the wood, etc.? I guess what I'm asking is what is it like around where you live?

Untilabout 2 years ago I lived in the Mackenzie

Most places in the south of the south island tend to

I do love being by my fire in winter. I even got in a

I could write for hours about life in the high

Perhaps you should write that book!

Oh Caroline....what an absolutely wonderful place to have lived! I have a cousin who used to live in an outback cabin out of Edmonton Alberta Canada in the summer and for vacations. No electricity, running water, etc. They just loved it. I have always wanted to live like that. I know that I would have NO problems.

We lived on the reservation in New Mexico for 3 years, and many of the people there live like this. THey had their hogans with the window facing the north. I believe the door faced the east...just beautiful people and wonderful peaceful living. I was sad when we moved back to "civilization" and decided that I had found the TRUE definition of "civilization" and it was NOT what is in the book!

Oh, do write that book!

It's easy to write in response to what people want to

know but I'm afraid I'd not really know where to start

if it came to a book. I am in awe of people who can

actually get their heads and minds sortred enough to

know what to write , how to put it together etc and

THEN people actually spend money to read it!!!! I

wouldn't mind having AIH days if I coukd make aliving

from them ---- almost not mind,. Debby it is good to

read what you write and I do enjoy tales of the REAL

life where nature is a friend (although at times one

witha bit of attitude!).

Today I am having a post-dressing day! I have these

awful sores on my legs (pyoderma gangrenosum) which

are related to me AIH - they need dressing twice a

week (at least this better than x3 a week) and the day

of dressing I seem to be very sore --- all raw nerve

endings having new stuff on them. So I get a real

excuse to sit about and blob out with a screen friend.

IKES!!! I am sorry about your leg sores. It must terrible. Hope they get better soon!

As for writing, my husband is a writer, and I am trying to put things together that he has written into a book. I spoke of the newsletter I put together every month, and he has a column each month. Just awesome....Even though I am partial, there are so many who read his column and they are helped. If we are able, we will see if we can get it published in a couple of years. It would be neat for him anyway. Heck, even my daughter is published....mine always are sent back! OH LOL

Keep those stories together. Put them on your computer and then you can go back later and edit or delete. I have done that myself!

Have a great day!

Caroline...

Glad to see that someone else is carting firewood...We heat out entire house with a woodburning stove...we do have electric heat but the heating bill is ridiculous. So we burn wood...Most of the time I enjoy bringing in the wood....but there are times...oh well I am sure you know what I mean....

Yes ----- I do know what you mean. When I go into a

nice warm home with a heat pump or similar and it is

all nice and clean I think how nice. Somehow the

ashes always need to be taken out, the wood runs out

and the house gets dusty all when I'm NOT feeling so

wonderful ---- 's Law. Caroline (NZ)
