Guest guest
http://uch.uchsc.edu/sotx/liver/newsletter.htm Rapamune tablets are here! Rapamune (Sirolimus) is the latest in the line of new anti-rejection medications. Many of the new liver transplant recipients are taking this medication in addition to their Prograf or Neoral. It became available in February of 2000. Much of the research is very encouraging. One pleasing attribute of this medication is that it is not harmful to the kidneys. The drawback is that it was only available in a liquid form until just recently. Now it is available in 1mg tablets. Most patients are taking 2mg each day. The tablets appear to be equal in every way to the liquid but much more palatable. Anyone who takes the liquid can call one of the coordinators to order the tablets for your next refill. All patients taking Rapamune will be happy to know that the latest research indicates that it is safe to take the Rapamune with your Prograf or Neoral in the morning. You don’t have to wait until noon to take your Rapa!
