Guest guest
Hi Joan! When I went for my interview at the oncology office the manager clearly stated that because we are dealing with terninally ill patients compasion was expected from everybody. I didn't have any problems since I'm not known for been rude or unprofessional but we had a high overturn of employees. The ask of us that if we didn't think that we could handle our duties that day they rather that we call in sick because on the first complain we will be kindly escorted to the front door. Working with customers whether is retail, medical etc takes a special kind of personality and lots of people on those positions don't belong there and the patient is the one that suffers. When I started working on the medical field my first three years were at a big county hospital downtown atlanta and I will walk in the clinic about 30 minutes before opening to find the lobby packed; mostly indigent patients and they will call me everyname but Tony. No matter what we were not allowed to respond to any unpleasant statements. We did have a panic button at each of our stations in case one of them resulted to violence which happened at least a couple of times a week. I said all these to say that I would have traded them for patients like you anytime of the day. Have a great day ! tony

Guest guest
Congrats Joan, no one should have to put up with that crap. Having a bad day is no excuse. You can be at least civil, if not actually nice. Laurie > Hey all, > Have you ever noticed how some people forget that > their jobs deal with human beings?? Guest guest
Joan. I'm glad someone is able to speak up to people like that. I usually keep it all in and that causes a lot of stress on my part. Which is something we are suppose to stay away from. Good for you. Hope she learned from you that we are the sick ones and could always use a smile from people and a healthier attitude. Guest guest
I have also run into the not so nice in the medical environment...Wish they could all be like the staff in my gastro's office. I went in for more blood work on Friday...the receptionist now knows me by sight and greeted me by name....one of the other office assistants stopped what she was doing to greet me and ask me how I was....and as always, the lab tech was rooting for me to have lower enzymes...she just keeps telling me soon I will only be coming in every 6 mos. They do make an unpleasant situation tolerable. nne > Joan. I'm glad someone is able to speak up to people like that. I usually keep it all in and that causes a lot of stress on my part.
