Guest guest
I'm so glad I found this group. I've been miserable for the past several years. When I think back, I'm pretty sure it goes back decades and has just been slowly getting worse and worse. I was dx seven years or so ago with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. I received no treatment b/c my symptoms seemed to be on the " hyper " side of things - racing thoughts, always hot, heart palpatations. Last year I had a terribly infected cyst under my earlobe - it was miserable - treated with two courses of antibiotics and withing a couple of weeks had a total " crash " with Adrenal Crisis symptoms. It seemed that my thyroid finally went " hypo " at that time which is what ultimately happens in Hashi's. Tried several things. Quit smoking in March and had a total adrenal crash. I don't ever want to go through that again. Wound up with a doc who is treating me over the phone/internet with Armour Thyroid and steroids (for the adrenals) which I am now successfully weaning off. I'd heard such bad things about synthroid and I couldn't find anyone to prescribe the Armour. My symptoms, although better, seemed to persist and we decided it's most likely yeast overload. I still have hypo symptoms and a very low temperature (94.5 this morning!) but my blood tests show a good level of thyroid hormone. I have always had all the yeast symptoms and have tried to stick to an anti-fungal diet - but not too strictly. The hormone type symptoms and yeast overload symptoms have so much in common! I have also long suspected gluten intolerance and now eat no wheat at all. I eat very little carbs (rice and potatoe once in a while) and no sugar. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to wean off the coffee and alcohol but I have drastically decreased my intake. Each change I make does seem to render an improvement but I'm still pretty sick. My doc prescribed Diflucan which I started today although I'm a little nervous about it. I'm starting very slowly and have been doing pretty well all day except for right after lunch when I felt like I was having a real die-off effect. My major complaints are: constant fatigue, weight gain, bloated belly and midriff section - I can actually feel it get " tight " with water sometimes - aching joints - depression/anxiety and personality change. Has anybody ever gotten through this misery? Any words of encouragement/advice would be very much appreciated.
