Guest guest
I just started going to a holistic doctor and he prescribed me nature thyroid. Anyone else been on this and how do you like it? Is it only avaiable through the doctor or can you find it in natural food places as well? I really do like this doctor but hes kinda costly to go to since insurance doesn't cover it. I didn't know if there were other options to obtain it since I'd like to try to keep my visits with him to maybe once a year and I'm not sure if he'll give me that much of a supply without coming back in more periodically. Thanks for your feedback!

Guest guest
I am on it but I don't know if it works yet. Have been on it for 3 months & up to 2 grains. I still feel bad, but have been updosing too slowly & have low iron & sick adrenals. Guest guest
Can you get it on your own or do you still need a prescription? With him being kind of costly the problem is I probably can't go to as many followups as he would want and don't know if I could get a refill from him without going in for an appointment. > > > > I just started going to a holistic doctor and he prescribed me > nature > > thyroid. Guest guest
It is not legal to sell it in the US without a prescription. However, I think some people are able to find another way; how legal it is I don't know. You would probably want to communicate privately if you're going that route. I personally have no experience with it; Synthroid works fine. Guest guest
It's not illegal to import 90 days of a prescription medication for personal use. I've ordered from the four pharmacies below in some combination over the past 10 years or more. Even with insurance now, I still order some of my medications from international pharmacies when " insurance + doctor visit costs + travel time " is still more than the " international price + shipping " . http://www.antiaging-systems.com/iasstore/acatalog/thyroid.html http://www.1drugstore-online.com/showprice.asp?name=armour & bysearch=ok & Go.x=0 & Go\ ..y=0 http://www.inhousepharmacy.com/general/westhroid.html http://www.biogenesis-antiaging.com/p49/Thyroid-Nature/Westhyroid-(1-Grain)/prod\ uct_info.html http://www.biogenesis-antiaging.com/p51/Thyroid-Armour-(1-Grain)/product_info.ht\ ml This place doesn't have Armour in stock or a generic but the pricing on it's other drugs can often the best around. I buy Aciphex there for about $6/month, a drug that cost $180 in a US pharmacy and on my insurance it's a 50% copay. The lowest my insurance is is $7 for most generics. The shipping charge for all orders is $30 USD so I order a bunch of different prescriptions at the same time. https://www.alldaychemist.com/search.php As to Synthroid working " fine " , the human thyroid produces both T4 and T3 and while some tissues can convert T4 to T3, I don't think one can say authoritatively that all tissues have this ability, particularly considering that the thyroid does indeed produce some T3. Unless you take the time to become personally informed on your drug/supplement options, seeing a doctor " might " be a better choice, but once you are on course, being economical seems wise. I personally treat my thyroid by ordering my own labs and ordering my own medications. Most doctors would never have treated my thyroid based on lab work alone since the TSH test is the " GOD " standard nowadays. I treat symptoms. As a result of self treating with T3, my cholesterol has dropped from 215-220 to 170. Statin drugs, the " GOD " choice of orthodox medicine gave me, as it does many people, damaging side effects. Most statin drug side effects are ignored by doctors and instead they send your for antidepressants, to a neurologist, claim the muscle aches and pains are a result of aging, claim forgetfulness is a symptom of aging, etc. T3 is a much safer choice although not mainstream, at least, not mainstream today. Treating cholesterol with thyroid medication used to be mainstream before the push on statin drugs, a more profitable but not safer choice. Most doctors have completely forgotten about treating the thyroid to lower cholesterol. Steve wrote: > It is not legal to sell it in the US without a prescription. Guest guest
My doctor is _extremely_ concerned about the possible side effects of statins and questions me closely about any symptoms that could indicate a problem. He also orders frequent bloodwork, part of whose intent is to detect any possible negative effects. I would hope other doctors are as diligent. I doubt many of us have the intelligence and education [formal or informal] that you have, or that is necessary to properly self treat to the extent that you have. .. .. Guest guest
You have fallen into " good luck " here . If you take a look a the groups Lipitor and Stopped_Our_Statins , you will see reports of doctor ignorance and assertions quite astonishing. Recent discussions involved a number of wives with husbands who are older and were prescribed statins and when downhill hill fast on statins and doctors who insist that it cannot be the statins and they need to remain on them. These wives took their husbands OFF STATINS with partial and immediate improvements but statins damages are often either permanent and or take years to overcome mostly, especially in the elderly. My first statin, Lipitor, after six months started causing PVCs in significant number. It took me about 6 more months to identify the cause while my doctors don't ever question the Lipitor. Getting off lipitor improved the problem dramatically but the damage was done and the solutions I found to minimize the problem are still required to some degree. Lipitor elevated my liver enzymes which was considered " OK/Safe " if it was less than 3-4 times the high end of the lab reference range. Today, I find that bull $#!T. The the second statin drug I was on I was on for years and still had to take some CoQ10 and magnesium to limit a smaller PVC problem (heart arrhythmia). The " fear factor " kept me on the drug. I went off the statin for 6 months due to conflicts with another drug I took short temr and then restarted the statin. This time, I started getting hand pain that was spreading that no pain killer would improve, lower leg pain that was spreading that no pain killer would improve, tendon pain behind my right leg which no pain killer would improve, and cognitive decreases on timed computer game playing that was in the neighborhood of 20 percent. Normal daily functioning didn't seem to be affected by the cognitive decline, but perhaps it wasn't yet noticeable. I stopped the statin without consulting with my doctor since I wasn't going to argue with them. They were the ones that wanted me back on the statin. It took a week or so for the and pain to be eliminated with super mega doses of CoQ10 and another month for leg pain to go away, except when I used the treadmill which causes my left leg some pain. The cognitive issues took two months to resolve, thankfully they did resolve. When I did see my cardiologist, she really want to find justification for me to restart a statin, but I insisted in entering into my my medical file that I had bad reactions to two statins. I wanted this in my paperwork as drug " reactions " . I have not intension at this time of ever taking a statin again. Guest guest
I guess luck figures into more than we know. I've had heart arrhythmia all my life but really didn't get it diagnosed for the first 40 plus years. Now I take a blocker [beta or calcium; I don't remember] and it takes care of virtually all the problem. My cardiologist would prefer the ablation route but when he mentioned that there would be some small chance of negative side effects... including death... I lost interest. The statin didn't seem to have any negative side effects at all as far as I can see. And I'm darned sure my doctor would not tolerate liver enzymes over the max range, but nothing like that ever shows up. So is it good luck that I don't have horrendous side effects, or bad luck that you do??? I suspect that if more people had the results you have there would be fewer of us taking statins. I'm now 68 and I'm sure I couldn't tolerate the misery you've had. It's great you have it under control. Guest guest
see, this is what I am talking about. in the future peeps like you will not be treated with T4, statins, and beta blockers. you would get magnesium, iodine and possibly Armour if you needed it. these things SUPPORT the whole body. follow the $$$ Gracia I guess luck figures into more than we know.
