After taking out my thyroid gland in 2006, my doctor did not put me on the thyroid replacement medicine until I experienced very painful lower back muscle complications; it was so bad that I could not walk for more than a few yards at a time. Your doctor sounds like a cruel monster, who ought to have known better. It sounds as if you had no information/advice from your doc about either hyperT or hypoT. Glad you are on meds now and not still suffering. You will learn a lot from the group, and the website I found most helpful to me when first diagnosed hypo, was Shomon's site at www.Ask.com. is hypo herself, and she has written books on both thyroid conditions. Get educated in your condition, because the doc's wont tell you much that is going to be useful to you, if they are the type that ignore obvious symptoms that scream so loud, what they are. God Bless, and Good Health, Val
