Hello Stu,

I'm here - good hearing that you're hanging

in there and know that you are in my prayers.

God Bless you and have a good weekend.

Love,

=====

I said to a man who stood at the gate of the year;

" Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown. " And he replied, " Go

out into the darkness and put your hand in the hand of God. That shall be to

you better than a light and safer than a known way. "

Hi Judy,Teri here , I was really pissed but in the same instant I was relieved now I knew what was wrong with me because I was so tired of feeling so bad and not knowing why.It is scarey. My blood work is all going down hill and afraid I will not be able to stay on meds. Made it for 8 mos. on reg interferon and things were going downhill and they took me off and I was labeled a non-responder, I now have just made 4 mos. Good luck on your therapy!

Thats not true, They found mine in it's early stages they feel and I had been sick way longer than that. I had some scarring of my liver but said I had a good five years before it would cause me any problems if I chose to wait. Teri

Hey Judy,

I was diagnosed about 8 years ago and I have been a-symptomatic since. My three month liver panels have all come back fine, but, like you, I am going to persue treatment this upcoming spring...a little freaked about it too. Did you find out anything from this e-mail?

My doctor is supporting my treatment even though I am not experiencing any symptoms and my liver panels are fine...anyway, she did mention that women tend to do better with the treatment than men. The stats are good, my thoughts are with you...

What kind of symptoms did you have that brought you to the doctor? When do you get your biopsy? I'm about one month behind you...what does a biopsy consist of? Do they just use a needle to extract tissue, or do they have to cut? My appt with my gastro is March 20. Thanks for all of your info.

This must be a slow time for this disorder - for some reason we are

all stable right now? I noticed all the other hypo chat's I am on

our more quiet as well.

Personally, my hypo just kicked in a new phase. I was so stable

this summer. Fall hit and suddenly have some of the old symptoms

back. At least, maybe I can start upping my dose again.

BTW - can anyone time me if dark pigment spots on the face is

adrenal. I am having a terrible time with them this year and

thought I recalled seeing they are related to something, just can't

find the post. Plus, my entire body is tanning too easily and

darker than usual which is kind of bizzare.

Hi Sherry--

Ebb and flow of the tide, could be. I have many other struggles in my daily life

and they can keep me away from the community--pretty sure that's the way it is

with most of us. My older son has Asberger's and I find it very emotionally

draining to help support and coach him through his daily life. This has a

negative effect on my health in general. We all have to do what we have to

do....

I have a couple of ideas about the dark spots and the darker skin, but, they're

only ideas.

You could look into heredity. Also, dark spots have been connected to hormone

issues, especially in women. Adrenal could be connected, based on that. If there

is any connection to how you feel and the appearance of the spots, that could be

an indicator for you to explore.

As far as the tanning darker--the only idea I have there deals with how much

exposure you have had since you were younger and how often you continue to get

out in the sun, as well as the type of sun/skin products you have used and are

using currently.

I've observed that older people who have always been out in the sun, no matter

how fair they might have been originally, will see their skin retaining the

tanning effects over time--so, it could be cumulative in your case. My younger

sister always went out and tanned and her skin is much darker even in the Idaho

winters than it used to be--she's 48. Everybody is unique, of course. Best of

luck to you and take care!

Re: Re: Where did everyone go?

go to the big kahuna endocrinologist in this progressive university town

(Madison Wisconsin). Complete blood panels for everything.

Hi Terry,

I went to school in Mad-town and lived there afterward for ten years. The

area IS progressive, but I found there medical establishment to not be.

Did you get a copy of your lab results? If not, you can probably request one

from records. From what I've read and from my own experience, Free T3 and Free

T4 need to be high in the normal range in order to feel good ... some people

even need their Free T3 to be higher than range.

Hi Terry:

Yep--that's a familiar tune!! I was on synthroid for years and the Big Kahunas

that I saw were all convinced that since the labs were good, that I should start

to feel better soon....Well---like many of us, that NEVER happened. I've been on

Armour for the second time now and find I feel better overall. I also

experimented with various thyroid and adrenal supplements on the market and

found some that really do work for me--for all of the symptoms we get--the brain

fog, the fatigue, the depression, the inability to concentrate and finish

projects, etc. We are working on my hair coming out WAY too much right now, and

the weight issue--but, the others have been greatly improved.

Stick to your guns, Terry!! Best of luck!!

Thanks Steph! I am sorry to hear about your son. Yes, taking care

of a child, and yet one that has any issues is exhausting!

No one in my family has this problem with dark spots. However, a

dermatologist did tell me I am at risk because of my mother's olive

skin. Funny, I did not inherit the olive trait. I am a fair

skinned blond that tans very easily. Yes, I have always been in the

sun so perhaps that has just caught up with me. I'm 42 and out much

more than the average person. I'm not intentionally baking in the

sun but do out door activities (kids sporting events, running,

swimming, walking the dog, etc.). I don't mind it, just seems a

little abnormal. Especially my face. I have 3 sisters, none of them

or my mother have this problem.

I wear the strongest and best dermatologist blessed sunscreen and a

hat at all times. The sun still gets through on my face. I live in

the Midwest so our sun isn't that strong.

Hi Sherry-

Isn't it something--if you think about it, that our skin is the largest organ of

our bodies, and it can take on so many different characteristics? I get these

stupid little flag moles--a nuisance. I also get these little red " liver " spots

They are hereditary.

I'm becoming a leopard.

Hi,

I had what was called the " Mask of Pregnancy " even before I got pregnant! So,

yes, it could most definately be related to the thyroid thing. I gave up

gluten, gave up make up, and said " what the heck with it " and do you know, mine

are almost completely gone. So, I believe in prayer, giving up gluten, and

giving up the make up! Maybe give it a try!

Blessings!

Thanks for the tip . Yes I had the mask as well, but it

went away after the kids. Now this is here. Maybe you are too

young for the second disorder to pop up yet? I use very little make

up myself.
