Guest guest
Hi Bee: I have read more than once that if you take Oil of Oregano, it is best to take it a couple of hours before or after taking an iron supplement because it may interfere with absorption of iron. Since I am anemic (sp?), I was wondering what your thoughts were on the subject. My naturopath recommended an iron supplement (which I have not yet weaned myself off) so I have not been taking O of Oregano. However, I'd really like to kick things up a notch and add something to the garlic and pau d'arco (which no longer cause die off). I can stop taking the supplement but my question is, do you think would Oil of Oregano worsen the anemia? (And is anemia another symptom of Candidiasis?) Thanks for your input - Penny

Do you have a reference? > Since I am anemic (sp?), I was wondering what your thoughts were on the subject. One of our members, Maddalena, cured her anemia by following my recommendations - see her report in our Success Stories Folder, or do a search of our message archives. ==>Die-off symptoms are not a measure of whether your body is being helped by garlic, pau d'arco or anything else. Die-off symptoms are not the goal of the candida program. The goal is to build up your immune system so it is able to keep candida in check like it is intended to do. ==>You only need 1 type of antifungal, i.e. raw garlic or oil of oregano or clove oil (Pau D'Arco tea is a very mild antifungal so it is taken to help detoxing and for it's other benefits more so than as an antifungal; that's why the tea form is recommended rather than any tablets or capsules). You could change your main antifungal to oil of oregano but taking both oil of oregano and recommended doses of raw garlic is not necessary (you can have raw garlic in salads and cooked if you wish in addition). You do not want to bombard your body with too many different things at one time. >I can stop taking the [iron] supplement but my question is, do you think would Oil of Oregano worsen the anemia? (And is anemia another symptom of Candidiasis?) ==>If your tests show you are in fact anemic you should be eating enough liver to correct it or take raw liver or liver tablets as I listed above. I haven't heard of Oil of Oregano worsening anemia. I doubt the statement that it interferes with the absorption of iron, but it can be taken 2 hours apart from iron tablets, but oil of oregano wouldn't interfere with absorbing iron from natural sources. If you are concerned you can take oil of oregano 2-3 hours before or after. You should get your iron levels re-tested. ==>Anemia can be a symptom of candida because candida saps nutrients in the intestines, and because most candida sufferers are mal-nourished, have poor digestion, etc. Bee
