Hi :

What a wonderful update on Gracie. We certainly learn not to take

for granted the most basic function in life as OCD really messes with

this stuff. Well done for Gracie, what a girl! SHe must be so

proud and she certainly has a proud mama. Take care, aloha from

preschool, Gracie came home and brought her little potty out to the

living room, sat down, and pooped. Twice. No big deal. This

is a child who would go weeks without going, even with suppositories,

laxatives, and enemas. She would cry when she did go, first because

it was painful after so long, second, because she didn't want to get rid

of the messy diaper. She wanted to keep it - preferably on.

In her short life, she has been subjected to a biopsy, an upper GI,

countless x-rays, rectal exams, etc. just to make sure there was nothing

medically wrong to cause the constipation. After all that, all she

really needed, apparently, was 4 weeks of 12.5 mg of Zoloft. Of

course, we have been working on desensitizing her to the potty for months

so I guess I can count therapy into the equation also. Even though

my other 2 kids' meds are still out-of-whack, tonight I'm a big fan of

" better living through pharmaceuticals " !

training.

Why? My daughter is almost 7, but at onset (age 4) poopie and OCD

problems around it was a big issue here too. OCD can screw up almost

anything, but when it gets involved in something as basic and daily

as going to the bathroom, aarrgh!! And the relief when the issue is

finally diminished or eliminated is huge, a cause to celebrate!

More to the point, this list is full of people who truly understand

how something small like a child using the potty can be such a grand

thing! :-)

Congrats to Gracie . . .

synthroid. I started with 50 microgram and now I am taking 88

microgram. Last week I got my blood test results. The TSH was 2.45

and the range is 0.3-5.5. It is within range however I feel better

when it is around 1.0. So I asked my Doctor to increase the dose and

I will be taking 100 microgram instead of 88. I am feeling OK but

little less energy and very sensitive to temperature. My major

concern is triglyceride numbers (390) in blood serum ; it should be

less than 149. My total cholestrol and HDL are fine. As you know LDL

number depends on the Triglyceride number and in my case triglyceride

is high so LDL will be low (90). I am wondering if anyone in this

group had similar problem and what did you do to bring it down. I

will greatly appreciate any input in this regard.
