Guest guest
, sounds like the synthroid isn't working for you. A lot of us here take Armour after synthroid didn't work for us. Also, you may have adreanal issues. Gracia takes high dose iodine. I too had heart palps on synthroid so my meds were reduced, but my hypo symptoms never went away. That is until I tried Armour. Go to www.stopthethyroidmadness.com there is a ton of info for you there. Guest guest
HI , I am very interested in what exactly your story is so hang in there with me if you please so we can get this straight. Were you taking 400 mcg when you got heart palps or is the 400 mcg the lowered dosage which caused you to get a TSH of 99? Do you have a thyroid left, did you have surgery, did you say you have hashimoto's thyroiditis? Any info you have would be great, thanks! We will try to help you as much as possible here! Guest guest
, Welcome to our group. You will find the people here are very special. They really care about everyone. My question to you is; did you stop your Synthroid for awhile when you found out it was ..01? For it to get to 99, it would seem you would have to completely have stopped any medication. If you did, how long were you without it? Ninety-nine is a real good reason to be feeling poorly. Guest guest
Sorry you're doc wont give you Armour. Most of us here use it. Did you get a chance to look at the STTM web site? Some here will say endo's are worse than family docs, but I use one who is great. You can always change docs if you want. There is a place where you can find a good doc in your area. The link is on the STTM site (I think). I have my thyroid, never had surgery, i believe i have hashimotos thyroiditis, first i had antibodies, my daughter who is 15 already has antibodies, she is seeing a pediatric endocrinologist for this. Guest guest
Hello , thanks for this info! Other than the heart palps did you still have other hypoT symptoms when you were taking 400 mcg? Like weight issues, brain fog, fatigue, etc. or were they gone? If you still had symptoms then, I deffinitely suggest switching medications. What dosage are you taking now to lower your TSH? I would strongly recommend calling your doctors office and ask for them to mail you copies of all your lab results so you can see for yourself what has been going on in more detail. We can help you with those lab results here. Are they treating your daughter with thyroid medications yet? They should be. My Mom has hashi's, I have hashi's, and we just found out my 16 year old sister has it as well. Her TSH was only five but her antibodies were through the roof so they put her on a low dose of armour so things don't get progressively worse. Guest guest
I have to agree with Gracia. I went to my primary doctor for most of the time since the 1980's. In 2004 I went to an endo and stayed with her for over 2 years. Apparently, she never checked to see if I had antibodies even though she said she would. I finally found a doctor that uses Armour. He treats all kinds of autoimmune diseases. I found him, I believe at the about.com website. This doctor had my old records from my endo and said she talks about doing the antibodies test but there is no record that they were even done.....no test results anywhere. I even asked her at the time and she said the test results did not show any antibodies......two months later, this new doctor did the tests and my antibodies were in the 200 range. I was not happy that the endo apparently never ran the tests. I kept telling her I was feeling awful and she tried to tell me it was menopause!! I will not go to an endo ever again. You could go to your endo for the diabetes and go to a different doctor for the hypoT, someone that specializes in autoimmune but not an endo. Just my thoughts. Guest guest
Well it doesn't sound like she is managing your thyroid though. An unmanaged thyroid is very concerning to your health. You will get high cholesterol and we all know what that can lead to. 400mcg of synthroid sounds like an awful lot to me. You may have a conversion problem too. Well I hope that you can get to feeling normal soon. God Bless. Guest guest
Hi Donna, are you supplementing with Celtic Salt? 1/2 tsp/day? that may help with feeling cold. Low temps can be due to low sodium and is part of the iodine protocol as i understand it. Have you taken your temps? Just wondering if they're low. Please let me know exactly what your FT3 and FT4 were and are now. I see the recent numbers but not the ranges and the previous numbers. Its good to have the FT3 in the high normal range and the FT4 in the mid normal range. Also, do you have any symptoms of HyperThyroid (ie; puffy eyes, heart palpitations, high blood pressure, rapid pulse, angry outbursts, extreme impatience/irritability? ...) I know I should be going by how I feel, but I guess the fact that my MD is getting concerned with my levels is influencing me. As mentioned, he is not on board with my iodine supplementing.
