Guest guest
Steph, Yup, unfortunately, I'm a smoker too. I started while in the Marine Corps some 20 years ago. I've taken a few breaks from smoking over the years. Each time I got pregnant, I stopped during the pregnancy and while nursing. And I nursed each one of my babies for a year. Why I started smoking again, I have no idea. I even took a break from smoking back in December and lasted til May. The most success I had with quitting was when I took Zyban. I was thinking of checking out the ear stapling thing. I talked to a guy who did it and had great success with it. Like you said, it can't be good for the thyroid and/or adrenals. What's worse is that when I try to stop smoking, my thyroid symptoms get worse. I don't understand that. You'd think I'd feel better if I quit. Guest guest
Hi, I'm new to this group & thought I would tell you my story. I was diagianosed with hypoT as a result of quitting smoking this year. I quit the end of March & by June I had every hypo symptom there is except for the hair problems. My DD & I quit together & she became hypo also. I have now been a nonsmoker for almost 6 months after smoking for 35 yrs. There is a wonderful support forum at: http://forums.about.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?nav=messages & webtag=ab-quitsmoking Also go to www.quitsmokingonline.com That site will help you to change the way that you think about smoking. It really works. Those 2 websites, Zyban & committ louzenges are what I used to quit. I never even tried to quit before because I was convinced that I could not do it. Be aware that if you do then you will most likely need to increase your thyroid meds. > > Anyone else a smoker out there? I smoked from age 12 tell 21 quit and > started up agin a year ago I am 38.
