metabolism - how long does it take?

Hi all - I've been doing the 2-3 tablespoons a day for about 2 weeks but my

metabolism is still sluggish, my skin is still dry, and my hair continues to

fall out. Any ideas as to when it will " kick in " ?

Basically I am sticking to the South Beach Diet (phase 2) and am exercising

3-4 hours a day on an elliptical. In the past 5 weeks I am down 9 pounds but

this is watching calories (1400-1900 a day) and exercising as I said, 3-4

hours a day. 6 pounds were lost before VCO.

Does anyone have a good understanding of what the term 'metabolism'

means? Everybody uses it and it gets thrown around in conversation a

lot, but I was wondering what people really think it means?

It may take a bit...but exercise/cardio realy has helped me tremendously. I was

so tired when I first started alll I did was yawn he whole workout...and I

wanted to sleep. I had worked out pre MGB and exercised regularly, but I did not

feel the energy kick in until the last month. I feel better even though I still

have some ulcer/gastritis issues, my energy level is the best it has ever been!

It takes energy to make energy. It is not easy, but when it starts benefiting

you you will be hooked on it! Also, make sure you are hydrated

before/after/during exercise. Ann

Exercise is supposed to release endorphins and make

you feel good. It makes me tired, no endorphins being

released. Any one have any deep insights into this?

Am I lacking something?

I went to the health food store and looked at products

for raising the metabolism. Some products had guarano

in them. I looked it up online and it looks like it is

a natural caffeine type product. Any one have any

input to share on this?

I've gained a few pounds and I seem to be just as

resistant to losing them as it was before I had

surgery. I feel my eating is pretty much in line so

that is why I am wondering about my metabolism. (I'm

54, so right at that age where the metabolism really

slows down. )

Thanks for any help anyone can give me!

Carol

On the other website we've been discussing going back to stage 1,

then stage 2 to restart the process. Some have tried it to get off

plateaus and it seems to work. You might consider this.
