Dandelion & Milk Thistle Teas --- Bee & Everyone

Hello, everyone.

I just wanted to write in to report that I stopped by the health food

store today and I obtained teas of Dandelion Root and Milk Thistle.

The tea bags contain only those ingredients, which is great.

Since I continue to struggle with digestive problems, notably

bloating, distension, and light colored stools, I'm interested in

doing things that can help my body detoxify (namely my liver and

gallbladder), but I'm not quite ready to take the coffee enema plunge,

as I still find myself intimidated by them.

I've been reading much about dandelion and how it is claimed to help

the liver and gallbladder detoxify. Several resources on the web

provide information similar to the following excerpt from one resource

I just visited:

" Dandelion root enhances bile flow, thus improving conditions such as

liver congestion, bile duct inflammation, hepatitis, gallstones, and

jaundice. Dandelion increases bile flow by 1) affecting the liver

directly to cause an increase in bile production and flow to the

gallbladder, and 2) exerting a direct effect on the gallbladder by

causing a contraction and release of stored bile. "

Importantly, the resource also provided this: " Dandelion is extremely

safe. Research has shown its toxicity to be extremely low. No toxic or

adverse effects have ever been reported, either for external or

internal use. "

Given my light colored stools and my belief that I struggle with fat

maldigestion/malabsorption, I'm very glad to know that dandelion will

increase bile flow to help cleanse the liver and gallbladder of toxins

and also help with digestion of my meals.

** BEE ** I am starting with the dandelion root tea for now, but as I

mentioned, I also have the milk thistle tea. I want to start slow and

observe the effects of just the dandelion for now. How many cups of

tea would you recommend I take per day? I am thinking of taking 3 cups

of the tea per day. Also, do you agree that this tea will help my body

to detoxify?

Also, to the group, I would be interested to hear others' feedback

regarding dandelion and/or milk thistle teas from those who have used

them in the past or are currently using them.

Thank-you and regards,
