Guest guest
IMO you need a higher dose of iodine/iodide. the thyroid gland prefers iodide. http://www.optimox.com http://www.breastcancerchoices.org to order Iodoral. Gracia of Iodine tincture (the one used to sterilize wounds)since I was a child. As a protective measure to avoid hypothyrodism. Can this affect negatively my thyroid?as for now I'm suffering from severe hypothyrodism. Thanks I appreciate your help.Fay

Yes, but mainly temporarily. They used to give iodine before surgery to get thyroid production to drop. However, with longer term administration, the gland should rebound if it is healthy. Just be aware, iodine will not restore a failing or failed gland. You need to replace the hormone. Iodine will clearly help with effects of an iodine deficiency. Gracia will tell you that massive doses will help with other things, but you will still need to replace the hormone(s) that the gland produced. Note that the tincture only contains elemental iodine. Your thyroid gland is more likely to take up and use iodide, the anion form. The magical effects Gracia claims come from a mixture of iodine and iodide.
