Guest guest
Hi all- I'm glad I found this group. I'm 27. My husband and I were just starting to try to have kids, so I was doing the whole charting thing. My waking up temps were low 96s and that concerned me a bit. After doing some internet research, I saw my low temps could be due to hypothyroidism. I had many of the other symptoms, but I really just thought being cold is just who I am! =) I also was just always tired (could barely keep my eyes open past 9pm, with 9 hours of sleep a night) and was slowly gaining weight. My blood pressure has always been low too (90/55-60). So I went to my doctor and asked for the test, even though I felt stupid doing so (not bc of the doctor, but just because I only went to the doctor just to get the test). I'm glad I did! I found out on Wednesday that my TSH is in the 12s. My doc started out with a 500 mcg for me and told me to come back in 6-8 weeks. I don't want to wait that long, because I want to continue trying to get pregnant, and don't want to harm any potential children. Should I just go ahead and schedule something in 4 weeks? She's my general practitioner...should I find myself an endocrinologist? I like her so I hate to ditch her, but I'm wondering if that would be a better move? Also, what was your initial experience when losing weight once taking medication? Sorry about the questions. I don't really know anyone else with a thyroid disease and I want to make sure I'm taking care of myself! Thanks in advance! Abby
