How often do you get tested?

I've been taking synthroid for the past 20 years. My new doctor wants

me to get my levels tested every 3 months. This is costly and time

consuming for me. I have a high deductible, the lab charges out the

wazoo, and I have to take time off from work to do it. Past doctors

have only required a test once a year. What is the norm? I think every

three months is unnecessary and excessive.
