Guest guest
I'm very sad that people would be warned off cleansing like this. You could find just as many success stories from patients and practitioners with inexpensive, healthy, effective cleanses. Filling one's head with all the negative is just so pointless. Please think for yourself, look for yourself, WIKIPEDIA is NOT GOD. Esmeralda And because this may go into an argument, I really just wanted to express my opinion and don't really want to go into a post match. > > Before you spend a lot of time and money on " cleansing " you might check > it out. Guest guest
Esmerelda, I wouldn't worry about anybody getting into an ARGUMENT with you. The last one of those happened because the poster denigrated this country and this list, but was perfectly happy to benefit from both. You, on the other hand have done no such thing, and I for one have no quarrel with you at all. I have never done a cleanse, and I'm very undecided about the subject. I have not made up my mind for or against it. Roni meralearning <normanarauz@...> wrote: I'm very sad that people would be warned off cleansing like this. Guest guest
Given that the group's description below includes alternative medicine & cleansing and other things someone like you might find offensive, I really wonder, , just why are you here? I really mean this as a sincere & serious question. We are all here because something in the list below appealed to us. It is obvious to us you don't believe in these things. That is your right. Guest guest
I have no root objections to the idea of cleansing, but I do feel that many people just jump on the bandwagon without first finding out if they NEED the cleansing. If you have parasites, or any of the other problems listed below, then fine. But if you do not, what is the point? Guest guest
Wikipedia is not God, and is not even a top encyclopedia. However, they seem to manage to get a lot of facts straight. As I said, if you don't like Wikipedia there are a great quantity of similar posts available through Google You presented a pro-cleansing viewpoint; I presented an anti-cleansing viewpoint. If I were considering a course of action that a great deal of highly intelligent and educated people say is a total pot of quack crap I'd like to know about that viewpoint and try to understand it; even if eventually I did not agree with it. For example, I have found it interesting to read some of the material that states that there is no connection between HIV and aids. I'm afraid published " success stories " basically boil down to testimonials. Every quack out there has a ton of them; especially if they have no credible evidence to submit. For that reason they are highly suspect even if valid. > > Re: CLEANSING: WAS: new to group > <hypothyroidism/message/36342;_ylc=X3oDMTJxa2xnc3J\ tBF9TAzk3MzU5NzE1BGdycElkAzE0NTY2NARncnBzcElkAzE3MDkyNTEwODIEbXNnSWQDMzYzNDIEc2V\ jA2Rtc2cEc2xrA3Ztc2cEc3RpbWUDMTIwMjEwMzg0Mw--> > > > > Posted by: " meralearning " normanarauz@... > <mailto:normanarauz@...?Subject=%20Re%3A%20CLEANSING%3A%20WAS%3A%20new%20t\ o%20group> > meralearning <meralearning> > > > Sun Feb 3, 2008 11:25 am (PST) > > I'm very sad that people would be warned off cleansing like this. > You could find just as many success stories from patients and > practitioners with inexpensive, healthy, effective cleanses. Guest guest
1] No, I never tried a " cleansing " ; however, I've read quite a bit of the promotional literature. To me it just literally screams " quack " . 2] Since the " flukes " of which was " cleansing " Americans don't exist in North America I wonder how far she had to go to find them. 3] As for " .... Don't knock it til you try it... " that's such pathetic example of logic that it should require no response. Guest guest
I well know who Barrett is. I've read quite a bit of literature favorable to him and quite a bit unfavorable to him. In my personal evaluation of the two groups there's utterly no comparison of the intelligence, education, and honesty of the two. Even if you hate him and everything he stands for you should condemn the obvious and pathetic lies and spin with which he has been attacked. That to me is a huge incentive to believe that his opponents have no valid negative facts; because if they did they would present them instead of the easily disproved slander. For example, if you look at the negative propaganda on the net one of the things you will find is a very prominent reference to Barrett as a " delicensed physician " . The implication is that he lost his license due to some nefarious activity. In actuality he retired in 1993, and as is common did not renew his physician's license subsequent to that date. The fact that he is not licensed is made to look as though he were some kind of disbarred criminal doctor; when the facts are quite different. So basically if you have no valid facts to support your position then you resort to BS [if your character level is that of Barrett's detractors]. I've used alternative methods myself, with great results. But there were no controls, so any data from same has exceedingly low credibility. > > Re: CLEANSING: WAS: new to group > <hypothyroidism/message/36346;_ylc=X3oDMTJxaDJ1bGp\ 1BF9TAzk3MzU5NzE1BGdycElkAzE0NTY2NARncnBzcElkAzE3MDkyNTEwODIEbXNnSWQDMzYzNDYEc2V\ jA2Rtc2cEc2xrA3Ztc2cEc3RpbWUDMTIwMjEwMzg0Mw--> > > > > Posted by: " and Irwin " familyirwin@... > <mailto:familyirwin@...?Subject=%20Re%3A%20CLEANSING%3A%20WAS%3A%20new\ %20to%20group> > fritzalseth <fritzalseth> > > > Sun Feb 3, 2008 11:26 am (PST) > > Come on , > Do we really have to go over this same argument? Guest guest
this is a good point. ????? I think in a few years we shall see " alternative methods " become the standard. Allopathic medicine has exceedingly low credibility. On the net we can sort out the crap from the useful stuff. Gracia I've used alternative methods myself, with great results. But there were no controls, so any data from same has exceedingly low credibility. > Recent Activity a.. 14New Members Visit Your Group Meditation and Lovingkindness A Group to share and learn. Guest guest
Can any of you who are interested in alternative ways to deal with hypothyroidism recommend another group that focuses on such? I was only recently diagnosed and joined this group to learn more about holistic and natural methods, but that doesn't seem to be the focus here, despite the description, and honestly, the posts over the past few months have been rather unpleasant and petty. Perhaps creating another group that does focus on alternative solutions, in a helpful instead of confrontational way, might be in order, if such a group does not already exist. Guest guest
***thank you Roni!!! My husband and I are actually doing our second major cleanse (as far as duration). We are having a lot of fun!! It's a candida cleanse. His MD recommended it and I just decided to do it with him cuz it looked easy and fun and I grew up with excess antibiotics and had symptoms from the survey HE filled out. We didn't get tests or anything He's obese and has lost about 23 pounds, lost his horrendous cravings and what he thought were hypoglycemic symptoms. I've lost only about 8 pounds, feel great and have only had cravings 3-4 times this WHOLE MONTH!!! Anyway, as you see, I'm excited about this and when we are done, I'm going to go on a weight loss diet and after that do some more cleansing. I'm happy and feel in control of my health. Guest guest
So you waltz in out of left field and oh so politely suggest I get lost [among other things] and then don't want any discussion of the points you make??? But please allow me to point out that my position here for a lot of people IS the alternative one. > > Re: CLEANSING: WAS: new to group > <hypothyroidism/message/36364;_ylc=X3oDMTJxYWdkMjJ\ tBF9TAzk3MzU5NzE1BGdycElkAzE0NTY2NARncnBzcElkAzE3MDkyNTEwODIEbXNnSWQDMzYzNjQEc2V\ jA2Rtc2cEc2xrA3Ztc2cEc3RpbWUDMTIwMjEyMTc2Mw--> > > > > Posted by: " Ohmer Pellegrin " flymail2222@... > <mailto:flymail2222@...?Subject=%20Re%3A%20CLEANSING%3A%20WAS%3A%20new%20t\ o%20group> > flymail2222 <flymail2222> > > > Mon Feb 4, 2008 2:04 am (PST) > > Given that the group's description below includes alternative medicine > & cleansing and other things someone like you might find offensive, I > really wonder, , just why are you here? Guest guest
, If you don't already know about it, there is the naturalthyroidhormones . It is a very active group and you will get MANY e-mails in a day. I suggest you sign up for the digest so you will get 25 or so e-mails at a time. Sorry to hear you may be leaving...I hope not for good. Anyway, you will get a load of info from that group. Good luck to you. Guest guest
Some of us try on this group to share a more holistic viewpoint. With hypothyroidism there are certain things that you MUST take, especially if you want to become PG. IMO it is very important to take iodine/iodide, Armour and minerals and B vitamins. you could join iodine group on . Guest guest
You can usually do a pretty darn good job of colon cleansing with a bottle of magnesium citrate followed by an enema. You also fast for one day. That's one of the procedures used in preparation for a colonoscopy. Following this procedure my colon has always shown clean, pink and healthy on the camera as I've watched the procedure. I don't really mind the colonoscopy but the " cleansing " is massively unpleasant for me. While there may be cases where a colon cleansing would be beneficial [i don't know] there are also con artists out there who can produce all kinds of parasites which were never in your colon. And colon cleansing is vastly different from such things as liver cleansing. In any event all I presented was a counterpoint to the " pro " viewpoint present by someone else. You're perfectly free to accept or reject the viewpoint of science and to accept the alternative view of cleansing. But you need to be aware that there are charlatans in that business. It's true that allopathic medicine can kill you as well as cure you; but your odds are no doubt better than with a con artist. > Re: CLEANSING: WAS: new to group > <hypothyroidism/message/36394;_ylc=X3oDMTJxbTM3bzR\ uBF9TAzk3MzU5NzE1BGdycElkAzE0NTY2NARncnBzcElkAzE3MDkyNTEwODIEbXNnSWQDMzYzOTQEc2V\ jA2Rtc2cEc2xrA3Ztc2cEc3RpbWUDMTIwMjIwOTA0NA--> > > > > Posted by: " Roni Molin " matchermaam@... > <mailto:matchermaam@...?Subject=%20Re%3A%20CLEANSING%3A%20WAS%3A%20new%20t\ o%20group> > matchermaam <matchermaam> > > > Mon Feb 4, 2008 6:17 pm (PST) > > I have no root objections to the idea of cleansing, but I do feel that > many people just jump > on the bandwagon without first finding out if they NEED the cleansing. > If you have parasites, > or any of the other problems listed below, then fine. Guest guest
Thanks to everyone who gave me recommendations for other groups. I'll check them out. And thanks, Venizia, for your very kind words. Sam, I agree with you, it has been interesting, but like your post suggests (even though I realize it was said in jest, there is some truth to it here), you shouldn't have to " run for cover " after a post. It should be a supportive atmosphere, where ideas are explored, not attacked or dismissed out of hand. To see people who say that they are healthy, but who are obviously still miserable at some level, is not very hopeful or helpful to me as I try to deal my new diagnosis of hypothyroidism. I am not the only one who feels this way - I have met others who have left this group for the same reasons, but just didn't post about it before they went. Perhaps I shouldn't have either, it's probably not worth all the hate that will now be slung at me. But I have a habit of speaking my mind and not being bullied into keeping quiet. --- venizia1948 <nelsonck@...> wrote: > , > > If you don't already know about it, there is the > naturalthyroidhormones . Guest guest
, I run the thyroidless group and over there we are definitely dealing with hypothyroidism as well as healing the damage done from barbaric medical procedures and drugs. Over there we know to replace all our thyroid hormones via dessicated thyroid dosed by symptoms, to address our adrenals (both cortisol and aldosterone), add thyroid nutrients if needed, deal with iodine deficiency, etc, and to do all that no matter what because that's just the way it is. That's because our very lives are at stake if we don't. We don't have the time to be jerked around by nincompoop doctors and people with bad advice. New people to the group are there either due be being thyroidless for a long time, freshly thyroidless, are soon to be thyroidless, or are seeking knowledge, etc. We absolutely know what works and what doesn't work because most of us have been thru it all, in spades. So when I came over to this group and was told " you just needed a higher dose of synthroid " , after I stopped laughing my arse off, I knew remaining in the group would be an " interesting " and somewhat entertaining adventure... That's my 2 cents. Sam (thyroidless since 1990) > > > Thanks to everyone who gave me recommendations for > other groups. I'll check them out. And thanks, > Venizia, for your very kind words. Guest guest
Thanks, Sam, I can say that I have always enjoyed your posts immensely (and learned a lot from them). --- Sam <k9gang@...> wrote: > , I run the thyroidless group and over there we > are definitely > dealing with hypothyroidism as well as healing the > damage done from > barbaric medical procedures and drugs. Guest guest
, You are very welcome. It makes me sad to think others have left this group because they feel we are not welcoming, so to speak. Well, if you learn anything new on your endeavors into the web groups, please pass them on. Again, good luck to you. Venizia > > > Thanks to everyone who gave me recommendations for > other groups. I'll check them out. And thanks, > Venizia, for your very kind words.
