you are taking 6 grains now? and how are you doing? I know peeps who are

taking 11 grains of Armour. I am taking 240mg all in the morning plus 50mg

Iodoral. I just found a letter from a nurse practiioner in 2000 who wrote that

I must stop Armour immediately b/c my TSH was hyper! That was on 90mg!

Usual dose of Armour is 180-300mg, but taking high dose iodine can decrease

need for meds.

your doc is truly unique--I would like to tell my sister about him, but they

doubt everything I say

be staying on.

I would like some kind of reference range to work with when I see my doctor

and he

changes my dose. He will probably do this on the 24th of April; my next

appointment.

hyper signs yet. You were correct about the diuretic and armour. Usually not

taking the

diuretic, I would have gained 5 or more pounds a day. I have only gained 3#

since being

off of it.

spacing it 3X a day? you can chew Armour, supposed to get into system

better. I chew everything, even cortef (bitter).

and hold my breath when I open the bottle. I have heard of people putting

it under

their tongue. It supposedly doesn't go thru the stomach that way? Have you

heard of that?

Armour tastes sweet when taking it subligually; it goes directly to

the bloodstream that way. I didn' mind it at all.

Actually, just some of it goes into the blood directly. Most of it is

still absorbed from the small intestine. Sublingual absorption does get

some into your blood quicker, which could make a perceived difference

with the T3 in Armour or Cytomel. It probably doesn't matter for T4.

venizia, sorry for breaking into the conversation. i do take my armour

sublig.. yes it does smell bad but you get use to it. they add

something to give it a sweet taste. as long as it works, is all i care

about, i can deal with the smell and taste. i have lost about 25 lbs

since being on armour and feel so much better!!!

I also feel better being on armour rather than synthroid or levoxyl. There

definitely was

something in both of them that gave me a problem. Synthroid, I know it was the

sulfites

that are in it. The levoxyl, I am not sure maybe a filler? I DO feel better on

armour

though. I also am amazed that I do not need my diuretic. Armour seems to be

taking care

of some of the water retention I was having with synthroid and levoxyl. Gracia

told me

this would happen.....she was right!

Can you tell me how long you were on the armour before you started losing the

weight. I

have about 30# to lose. Do you see an advantage taking in sublingually? I know

it is

suppose to get into your system faster but do you notice anything rather than

swallowing

it?

i was on armour for over a year. i did notice a quicker 'un-

zombification' (i worked in advertising - they make up words there

all the time;), if you will, by letting it dissolve under my tongue.

i know it sounds gross because simply sniffing the bottle in which

the pills are encased can make one gag and lose their cookies.

however, don't go anywehre near the bottle with your nose. extract

a pill, and just put it under your tongue. don't think about it,

and just let it do its thing. of course, the smaller the pill, the

faster it melts, so you might want to break up the big ones into

smaller pieces to allow for more surface area. it does taste a

little sweet, nothing horrid really. and once you get used to it,

it's no big deal. just make sure to rinse your mouth after the

process is done. my boyfriend would make faces, telling me i had

pig breath. lol.
