Guest guest
Chuck any response about this. You and I talked recently about selenium....I would be interested also in any ideas about it suppressing the immune system before I consider using selenium. Guest guest
I was told that Hashimoto Thyroiditis is a GROSS deficiency in Selenium. I am taking about 200 mg every other day. Guest guest
, Are you taking 200 mg or 200 mcg of Selenium? You haven't noticed any adverse effects from taking it? I would really like to give it a try. Guest guest
Hi Venizia, I think it's 200mcg, but I'll have to check for sure. Actually, I feel better! I am also jumping on a minitrampoline, and this helps with over all wellness. I never heard that Selenium suppresses the immune system. I would like to learn more about this. But with an autoimmune, I know that you don't necessarily want to boost the immune system, but balance it. I buy mine from www.choosetobehealthy.com INNATE brand! Guest guest
, I am thinking of trying the Solray brand. I bought the Vitamin Shoppe brand and found out it has a sulfite base. Because I have a sulfite sensitivity, I can't take that brand. Supposedly if it has amino acids Methionione, cysteine or taurine they contain sulfur dioxide. However, the solray brand contains sodium selenite which should be free of sulfites. Thanks for your encouraging words. I am going to give this a try. I don't think selenium directly suppresses the immune system. In fact, it is usually touted as strengthening or feeding the immune system, particularly in HIV, although that is probably mostly hype. I think what you might be reading about, is that selenium helps in the conversion of T4 to T3. If it is T4 that is triggering the Hasimoto's response, then converting to T3 might reduce the immune attack. Remember with autoimmune diseases, the immune system is attacking the wrong thing. Making it stop that is GOOD. OTOH, too much can still be toxic. I would stop around 200 mg per day. Chuck
Guest guest
No, you guys. I didn't read that it was BAD anywhere... I am just telling you my experience with it. I had a cold for over two months. When I stopped taking selenium it vanished... I upped my dosage of t4 meds and my cold seems to have come back a little.. I am taking kelp, l-tyrosine, b complex and iron now every other day. I don't really care what I read,, If something seems to be affecting me in a bad way I'll stop it and see if it helps the problem. at least my hair stopped falling out so much from my t4 meds finally. > > > > > > Chuck any response about this. Guest guest
Do you have hashimotos? One thing with a cold, it could be that your immune system is getting rid of somthing bad. So that would be a good thing. Blessings on your journey!
