Guest guest
how does one help a child, younger than 11, with depression? I know about counseling... that is coming into the equation ASAP. However I know that diet plays a big role because as a candida sufferer myself, I understand the rewards of a positive diet. Where do I start with kids in a world filled with candy and treats? I know that eskimos do not get depressed because they eat a lot of omega 3 rich foods. What about magnesium? I do know that there is a gluten sensitivity -- it just feels, as a parent, very frustrating -- with school lunches and the whole thing. I don't even know where to start. The road ahead looks really confusing and overwhelming. I'm just in shock -- been reading up on depression and come to find out kiddos suffer from this all the time. I just want to make the road to recovery a little bit easier. Any suggestions would be great. ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Shape in your own image. It is very tough to get kids to eat the right foods and to take supplements necessary to turn their depression or health problems around. You would be wise to educate your 11 year old first and get his/her willing cooperation in any nutritious program. ==>Yes, omega-3 is very important for helping depression, along with the other oil soluble vitamins A, D, & E as well as the good saturated (coconut oil, butter, lard, and other natural occurring fats in meats and eggs), and protein too - they all work together in the body. You should give your child cod liver oil even in the Summer (contains omega-3, A & D). An 11 year old will do good on 10,000 IUs vitamin A, 800 IU vitamin D, and 2,000 mg omega-3. The best cod liver oil is called high vitamin available from Radiant Life or Dr. Ron's Ultra Pure website - see our Group's Files (left menu), " C) Cod Liver Oil Folder " for more information. Also see our " C) Treatments " Folder for the article on Depression & Anxiety. ==>Your child could also take 1/2 of the adult doses of the other supplements recommended. It is also extremely important to eliminate all sugars (even fruits), all dairy (except butter), grains, seeds, nuts & legumes, soy, processed foods, bad man-made vegetable fats & oils, etc. per my candida article. Most kids love Bee's Raw Egg Drink which is a great way to start them on a good nutritious program, which includes good fats. Ensure you start with small amounts of coconut oil and butter (1 tsp. per day) and only gradually increase them because they will create healing reactions like an upset stomach, gas, bloating, etc. ==>Many parents that belong to this group also feed their children the same way they eat. It takes time to change over to a healthy program but you cannot go wrong giving your child the nutrients needed so the body can heal itself the way nature intended. The best in health, Bee
