Guest guest
Hi All, Well my new specialist had a new theory about my tummy troubles that I thought I would run past you all. He said that doctors/specialists are now finding in some cases of coeliac disease that people dont get better after going off of gluten (this is me). normally these people are eating a horribly unhealthy diet and fixing that fixes their tummy. However in a few cases this does not work ( me). He said in those cases there is now evidence which suggests that the intestines are responding wrong. Basically they were being traumatised when Gluten was eaten and after gluten removal are still acting traumatised. They were too " upset " to recognise that they are no longer being aggrivated and thus do not calm and the patient's symptoms continue. Apparently there have been trials using amitriptyline to calm the intestines and return them to normal function. it all sounds so plausible coming from his mouth that i thought i would ask what you all thought. I am not a person who agrees with drugs...in fact I am VERY against treating the symptom and not the cause, but this sounds like cause. My hesitation is of course the use of drugs to fix my bowels...also this drug was orginally used as an antidepressant, though in a MUCH higher dose then I would have should I take it. Just wanting some opinions if you care to give them...its an interesting theory and not one I had heard before.. cheers Lelita

I agree that you shouldn't take a drug to fix any digestive problems - they are all toxic. My diet, supplements and suggestions on improving digestion will help you the most - see the section " How to Improve Digestion " in my main candida articles, or do a site search for Digestion on my website. If you are struggling a lot with digestive issues I recommend you do the 9-day program: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/dig6.php The best in health, Bee
