I have been using Spectrum coconut oil and they don't give a whole lot of

info on the label. It just says " 100% expeller pressed naturally

unrefined organic coconut oil " . But it tastes pretty much the same, to me,

as NOW brand unrefined coconut oil.

If there's a problem with it I'll go back to the NOW brand.

Hi,

Wanted to chime in on this. It was the Spectrum brand, which has a label that

says naturally expeller pressed refined Coconut Oil, that had me believing there

was a method for refining that was natural, and what prompted me to stick to the

refined when I ordered from MRH. From Spectrum's website:

http://www.spectrumorganics.com/index.php?id=15#j59

What is the difference between your refined and unrefined coconut oils?

We did a comparative analysis of several different coconut oils and found that

the nutritional benefits (such as caprylic, capric and lauric acids) derived

from the refined, unrefined and " virgin " coconut oils have little variance. The

term " extra virgin " only applies to olive oil; at present, no authoritative US

agency such as the FDA or USDA regulates the use or misuse of the term " Extra

Virgin " .

What are the general differences between Spectrum’s refined and unrefined

oils?

Our refined oils undergo a process of refining, bleaching, deodorizing and

winterizing in order to remove gums, non-fatty materials, water soluble pigments

and acidic pigments.

They do not specify what the " natural " method of deoderizing is, therefore

from here on out I will be sticking with the VCO. I don't believe they do have

a process of deoderization that is safe or natural at this point.

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit. We
