However, TSH is more an indication of the time you have been hypothyroid, rather than some sort of severity. Some come to the list with triple digit TSH. You are catching it relatively early, which means you probably don't have permanent damage. Just get it treated, and you should return to a sense of normalcy. Just don't mess around with it. Guest guest
you can get some explanation of definitions at http://www.thyroid.about.com your TSH is high so it is clear, along with symptoms, that you are hypothyroid. you need enough of the right med, and enough iodine/iodide. http://www.helpmythyroid.com Gracia I am very confused !!! Guest guest
Niki, You wrote: > > I am very confused !!! What is primary hypothyroidism?... That's probably what you have, basically a broken thyroid gland. Gracia was not saying your 12.8 is not high. She was just saying that for her, even when TSH was low, she still had hypoT symptoms. That is where we have controversy; when TSH is normal or even low, and you're still sick. That is NOT what's going on here, at least not yet. Give the medicos a chance. You're TSH is high; no doubt about it. The test screened you properly. The appropriate next step is to treat it. Let your doctor do that, and give him about three months to get the dosage right. Then, if you still don't feel normal again, ask for the other tests and possibly different meds. In the mean time, keep reading this list. If there is trouble down the road, you'll have a clue about what to do about it. Welcome to the club! Chuck
