Guest guest
Hi Bee, Please forgive me, but I still don't get this. I've only heard the term " hydrogenated " with respect to oils, and xylitol is not an oil. I do understand that xylitol is derived from corn or birch trees, but I do not understand how that makes it harmful. Can you please go into more detail about how it can be harmful? I give xylitol gum to my DD because she has severe decay, and it has halted the decay from going any further. I refuse to put flouride in her mouth, so I had felt good about this stuff. Thanks! Guest guest
Gail, if you are trying to lose weight on this program (not sure if you are or not) then Xylitol is an absolute no-no. Even the taste of something sweet can provoke an insulin response and create cravings regardless of whether it feeds candida or not or is metabolized like a sugar. Sugar alcohols kept me having problems for years because they kept provoking cravings in me. Even if you are not trying to lose weight it will provoke cravings. Not to mention that a known side effect is gastric distress, which should give you an indication that it's not good for you. It is a lot easier to act ourselves into new thinking than to think ourselves into a new action. No, I've lost too much weight and want to gain weight. I've only used it in the egg drink and it didn't cause me to have any cravings. I rarely have any sugar cravings. And I've only used Stevia in an occasional lemon drink which I usually drink without any sweetener. > > Not to mention that a known side effect is gastric > distress, which should give you an indication that > it's not good for you. I believe it is only if you eat an excessive amt that this occurs. Course it might just help me get my bowels moving again LOL. Just kidding, I wouldn't even consider using it for that But, thanks for the info. Gail
