Guest guest
Are you using boiling water? I whip mine up in a vitamix, and I haven't had any chunks. I can see where that would be very unpleasant, though! I hope you find a solution. I find it lovely to drink. It's like a fancy coffee drink at Starbucks, but good for you. Good luck. Are you using *hot* water? Luv, Debby San , CA 380/242/170 ------------- Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Guest guest
Is the water that you're using hot enough? I've never had that problem with globs of fat in my egg drink (unless I've made it ahead of time, taken it out of the fridge, and tried drinking it without shaking/re-blending.) When I make it, I put my egg, coconut oil, and butter in the blender first. Then I dump the boiling water over it and blend. THEN I blend in some ice cubes to cool it back down, and even with the ice cubes blended in, I've never had trouble with fat chunks. As far as the taste goes, some people use tea or decaf coffee instead of boiling water. Add that and a LITTLE stevia ('cause it only takes a tiny bit, I've noticed), and you'll have a pretty tasty drink. Maybe you're adding too much water for your tastes? Personally, I add a lot of water 'cause I don't really want to taste the coconut oil and butter, but maybe the taste would be a bit more pleasing to you if you added LESS water. Just some thoughts... in IN
Guest guest
Thanks for the replies. No, I'm not using hot water, which I guess is the problem. Since water doesn't really have any nutrients in it to be destroyed, is it acceptable to heat the water in a microwave? Boiling water in the morning will get old real quick. Mornings are hard enough as it is and my morning routine is all about efficiency.

The best form of Stevia is powdered and green, which is simply the Stevia leaf ground up, instead of processed - I get it in the bulk jars at my health store. It will make a big difference if you use boiling water! It will bring out the great tastes in the coconut oil and butter too. There are very important nutrients in water - mainly minerals. I make the drink every morning before work. I put on the kettle on low heat while I'm showering and by the time I come out to throw the ingredients in the blender the water is hot. Mornings are hard enough > as it is and my morning routine is all about efficiency. Personally, I've been known to boil my water. That being said, I have an electric tea pot that's MUCH more efficient than one that you put on the stove. I can have a cup or two of boiling water in no more than 90 seconds. (It actually does up to 4 cups at a time, but I obviously don't need that much.) in IN
Guest guest
OK, I'll give that a try. Guest guest
Hi Vin, One way you could save time is to not use a blender. I put the CO and butter in a bowl, add the boiled water and let stand for about 2 mins until melted then add cinnamon and nutmeg and stir together. It all mixes together just fine with much less washing up! Cheers, Cara Re: [ ] Help With Egg Drink Thanks for the replies. No, I'm not using hot water, which I guess is the problem. Guest guest
Vin, I find hot water is the key. I boil mine in the teapot. I also find there is a " right amount " of water to get optimal taste, or the least offensive taste. Too much water makes it watery and it tastes funny. Too little water and the greasiness dominates (yuk). The suggestion to add coffee instead of plain water might work well. I'm going to try it this weekend. Guest guest
I don’t make my egg drink in the morning because I’m like you, mornings are too busy and sometimes too painful to be cooking. I make it when I can and store it in mason jars in the refrigerator. I try and drink one mason jar a day, for breakfast and for afternoon snack. I like it this way also because I can take it with me when I need to be on the run or at a meeting. I do this with my Pau D Arco tea also. I got the idea from Debbie’s sample daily plan: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/dplan.php I found it helpful and printed it out for myself and made changes that would work for me. Thank you Debbie for sharing it with us! just my little life talking here, laura Ü
Guest guest
I can't help much on the warm egg drink, but maybe this is an occasional alternative: I rarely have my egg drink hot and I also have never been able to add VCO and rarely add butter to this drink (I prefer to have it separately). This makes for a nice summer cool egg drink. I put about a third of a cup of cold water, two large or three medium eggs, sea salt, grind in some nutmeg and cinnamon, a drop or two of Stevia and a few ice cubes after blending. I also used to be a big iced coffee gal, so I have many times done the same as above but instead of water put about a cup of coffee- swiss water process decaf of course To go a step beyond I have whipped up egg whites, folded in a slightly beaten yolk with spices and stevia, and frozen them in a popsicle maker for a treat. They are light and delicious. I have never tried to freeze coffee version, but I bet that would be good too! 7 months 5 days
Guest guest
Hello, The egg drink takes me about 1.5 minutes to make and that is really taking my time. Because my husband leaves at 5am I make his the night before. Water in the kettle, switched on to boil, rinse off the eggs under hot tap water, crack in to the blender jug, butter in , VCO in, cinnamon and nutmeg in. I wizz that for about 5 seconds. Water is boiled by this point and I pour into the blender jug, wizz a few more seconds. Then I pour into 2 flasks one for his breakfast at 5am and then one for him to take with him for his afternoon drink. in the UK
