Guest guest
Hi Kim Good to hear from you - glad you are feeling good just now! Well I am in a dilemma as this endo was very thorough and certainly did explain everything to me - he also gave me all my blood results which I will add on the end here and see what you make of them. this is the first time I have seen these so a breakthrough for me. He is not saying I have s, just that he would like to test for it as I am showing signs of it - he looked at my pigmentation etc and the bp thing. He seemed concerned about this and has put me on steroids right away and says I will have a day in hospital having the testing done for addisons within the month. He did say he was putting me on the steroids because unless this adrenal problem is corrected (whether addisons or not) then the treatment for the hyperhyroidism won't be effective and I won't achieve remission. I was only taking one 5mg carbimazole a day (had got it down to that) along with one thyroxine (25mg) but he has upped my carbimazole to 40mg a day and upped thyroxine to 100mg a day as well as taking the steroids 20mg a day. Seems like I am taking a whole load of stuff! when I queried taking all this as I had been hoping to lower the carbimazole and finally wean off it in the hope I would achieve remission he said that unless I gave thyroid a complete rest I would not achieve this. He said that my doing this I would have more chance of achieving remission. so his plan is to keep me on this level for two years and then take me off the meds and see if I go into remission. If I don't go into remission then he will give me RAI. At this point I didn't mention how against RAI I feel at the moment. He did say that he would rather try the block and replace first before RAI and that at the moment I was not a candidate for it because of my swollen eyes. He also told me it would be 18 months to two years before the swelling in my eyes would be gone (sigh!). So thats where I am at the moment - strictly speaking I am slightly hypo at the moment. He was not at all concerned about the irregular heart beat I have so often when I mentioned it so guess thats nothing to worry about. I have this a few times a day an am very aware of it. Anyway - here are my blood results : (at last!) 11th January 2006 Free T4 was 19.4, Free T3 was 9.9, TSH was <0.10 10th February 2006 Free T4 was 18.2, Free T3 was 7.8, TSH was <0.10 24th March 2006 Free T4 was 22.5, free T3 was 9.0, TSH was <0.10 At this point felt very hyper - was put on 30mg Carbimazole 12th may 10th May 2006 Free T4 was 29.2, Free T3 was 11.1, TSH was <010 Felt very bad end May, shaky 8th June 2006 Free T4 was 9.7, Free T3 was 4.2, TSH was <0.10 Felt so much calmer but very very tired, reduced carbimazole to 20mg, tired sluggish and gaining weight fast. Last week of June reduced carbimazole to 15mg as feel so bad 12th July 2006 Free T4 was 5.6, Free T3 was - , TSH was 38.64 Started off in July feeling good, reduced carbimazole again, felt like I wanted to die! so Dr put me on 25mg thyroxine 16th August 2006 Free T4 was 10.5, Free T3 was -, TSH was 5.99 Feeling so much better, most normal in a while tho eyes puffy and heart doing its fluttery thing every day. 7th September 2006 Saw endo and he took blood tests - no results yet. Suspects I have s disease. Put me on 40mg carbimazole, 100mg thyroxine and steroids for adrenals. So, does any of that make any sense to you Kim? Guest guest
Grace, In my humble, short thyroid experience, I think your dr had you on too high of an ATD dose. That is what caused your high TSH and subsequent hypo feelings. My guess is that if you continue following this drs plan then in approx two years you will be taking RAI. Because by then you will be so fed up with feeling bad that you will try " anything " in a feeble attempt to feel better. Think about it. If you are somewhat stable on drugs. Then all drugs are removed...what do you really think will happen? My first instinct screams that it won't be fun to experience the upheaval. (Most drugs need to be weaned down. Not stopped cold turkey.) In this case I am going to strongly suggest you check out the group at mediboard.com. There are several there that have been at the whole ATD trip, including B & R, alot longer than I have even been around " thyroid land " . Plus there are several there from the UK that have a better understanding of your national health care system. I really think you could benefit from the knowledge available at mediboard. Please check it out. Kim Re: Re: Adrenal connection Hi Kim Good to hear from you - glad you are feeling good just now! Guest guest
> > What are your thoughts on adrenal function and candida? Hi , There is definitely a connection between candida and adrenal malfunction. Go to Bee's website www.healingnaturallybybee.com and type " adrenal " into the site search and you'll get links to a couple of good articles on her site. jackie
Guest guest
Hi , All candida sufferers have adrenal malfunction. See these articles: http://www.healingnaturallybybee.com/articles/menu4_7_1.php That's why I recommend 1 1/2 teaspoons of ocean sea salt per day because it is so important for the adrenals. Also lemons in the electrolyte drink, dry skin brushing and coffee enemas are to help the adrenals and the liver detoxify. Bee
Guest guest
I hope this is ok to post. I wanted to recommend a book on adrenal health. I have been reading it. I can see that a lot of my symptoms are linked to exhausted adrenals. But the book mentions that sometimes our adrenals are affected by many different stresses. Including injuries, car accidents, relationship problems, jobs, chronic infections ie. candida. Which I can see that is the case for me. Anyway I would not recommend the dietary suggestions ( Bee's diet is quite superior to any other). But there are some other things in the book that would help with supporting adrenals and helping to handle stress better. I think with most here our main stress is a body trying to cope and keep going with candida overgrowth. But the accumulation of other stresses combine to make us feel even worse. Anyway the book is Adrenal Fatigue The 21st century stress syndrome. By L. P.S. Bee, I am frequently amazed at how your research and approach to health are so right on the money. I wish I had known all this years ago. Thanks for all the hard work. Donna in Indy > > Bee sorry if this is on your site and I missed reading it. Guest guest
, you are so very welcome for the help. You cannot go wrong going back to Mother nature and the foods we were intended to eat.
