Guest guest
Hi Joanne! Mountain Rose Herbs has the best coconut oil. The taste is yummy but not overly strong. In fact it is exactly the same as Nature's Way, which I was buying before but MRH is so much cheaper. The only CO I've tried that I like better is Nutiva but it is way more expensive. (A 29 ounce jar of Nutiva is $20, compared to a gallon of MRH for $28) Hugs, Ellen ----- Original Message ----- From: joanne finigan<mailto:joanne_finigan@...> hi i have some virgin coconut oil at home and i cant stand the taste, i understand it is because it is virgin. mountain rose herbs is also virgin, does it have a strong taste? thank you joanne
Guest guest
I'm always suspicious when something seems too good to be true. Why is it they can sell a gallon for $28 when everyone else is around $60? Has Bee check this brand out? Guest guest
I have to agree with you price wise and I am going to start buying the 5gal buckets now because I use so much of it (as much on the outside as on the inside ;+) BUT with that being said, I truly love the taste of coconut so I will gladly pay the extra $$ for all my flavor 8^) Shirley P.S. I have no clue where I am going to store it though.......where do you keep yours? How much does it weigh? Like 40lbs? >From: Debby Padilla-Hudson <debbypadilla@...> >I sure am glad I get the refined stuff.. only 70 bucks >for 5 gallons and all my food doesn't taste like >coconut! > >Luv, >Debby >San , CA
Guest guest
Virgin means it hasn't been processed. The refined stuff they sell is good because it is expeller pressed, which means it is processed in such a way that is very gentle and does not harm the oil. The refined stuff does not have any taste. Guest guest
You are lucky that you like the taste of coconut on your foods. It doesn't seem to go well with my beef and broccoli. I'm not sure how much it weighs but it is pretty heavy. I usually have my husband bring it into the kitchen, then I scoop some out and put it into a couple of smaller jars which I keep in my cupboard. Then I have to only pull it out every couple of weeks. Mine is halfway empty now so I can carry it myself. I could carry it myself when it was full but it was a bit heavy. I store mine in my hall closet, and then just keep refilling the smaller jars when they get empty from the big container. Pat Brogan Hi Pat, Here's what Mountain Rose Herbs says about the refined coconut oil they sell on their site. This particular oil is refined through organic methods involving deodorization, and the removal of color through the use of bleaching clays. Recommended for cosmetic purposes only, as the Virgin unrefined is a more suitable edible oil. Hope this helps.:-) Debra NW From: Debby Padilla-Hudson <debbypadilla@... sure am glad I get the refined stuff.. only 70 bucks for 5 gallons and all my food doesn't taste like coconut! Guest guest
Hi Joanne, I'm biased when it comes to this because I like the taste so I can't really advise you but you could use the VCO you have on your skin as a moisturizer and buy a refined one like Debby P uses for cooking. Guest guest
I don't know Barbara and I am not about to question them on it. I use this brand (thanks to Debra), I get results (die-off) from it, it is organic and virgin so that is good enough for me! Feel free to spend more money if you like ;+) Shirley >From: " babsbrown02 " <babsbrown02@...> >I'm always suspicious when something seems too good to be true. Guest guest
Bummer, I didn't realize that it was marketed for cosmetic purposes only. Well anyways I've had great results with the refined stuff as shown by all my numbers so I'll stick with it. Plus I'd rather save money and not have all my food taste like coconut anyway. Guest guest
As long as it is expeller pressed it is OK. I'm not sure why MRH is marketing it for cosmetic purposes anyway. I've been eating it for many months now and I'm just fine. Luv, Debby San , CA ps16501 <ps16501@...> wrote: --->Is refined coconut oil ok? Guest guest
It has nothing to do with it being virgin--there are two different ways of making virgin CO, one of which involves fermentation and one of which doesn't. If you dislike the taste, chances are it is the fermented type. Mountain Rose Herbs virgin CO is not fermented and has a very mild flavor. NOW brand & Tropical Traditions are two fermented types of CO. > >From: joanne finigan <joanne_finigan@...> > >i have some virgin coconut oil at home and i cant stand the taste, i > >understand it is because it is >virgin. mountain rose herbs is also virgin, > >does it have a strong taste? > >thank you joanne >

I use Garden of Life and it's excellent but expensive. It's the best one I can buy here in Calgary, Alberta, and I feel it's worth the price. I'm not on drugs so I don't have that expense like some people do. lol! Luv, Bee
