In your case it could be yeast (try one of the over the counter lotrimins) or maybe try an antibacterial ointment if it's getting raw or open. Maybe cortisone creams if it's itchy. Guest guest
My daughter, Elaney, recently had a staph infection that sounds similar to what you have described. It took a course of Bactrim followed by a course of Keflex before it cleared. It did leave a little scarring but it is beginning to fade. Elaney's rash was inside both thighs. I do remember her saying that it did itch. However, the doctor mentioned that sometimes these infections do not itch or hurt. Elaney is on MTX and Voltaren. We had to hold back the MTX while she was on Bactrim. Our dr also advised us to keep the area very clean. We were told to use soap and water several times a day on the area. We still do not know just what caused the infection. I feel like the MTX makes it easier to get infections but the rheumatologist disagrees. I hope some of this helps.--- & Elaney(12 JRA, heart defects, scoliosis)elizabethsimpkins <elizabethsimpkins@...> wrote: I am an avid reader not poster but perhaps you can offer some advice. My 5 1/2 year old daughter is currently on Indomethacin as well as a steroid taper (last dose yesterday morning). She was exposed to poison ivy about 10 days ago that developed in to a skin infection. The infection takes up 50% of her thigh and is raised, warm and ugly looking. My daughter says it isn't itchy at all. Anyway, her pediatrician perscribed Bactrim and said if it doesn't clear by Saturday that we will need to call the Rheumy, perhaps the infection is being caused by one of arthritis meds. Has anyone heard of this? My Mom who is a nurse thinks it may be a case of celulitis. Was curious if anyone has had this and if an oral antibiotic typically clears it up.Thanks! Guest guest
, In the years has had Skin rashes or even a Mositoe bite. It has always ended up as more for her. Bactrim is good as the Cream and treatment on the outside. But with any infection with it got worse on her unless it was treated inside and out. So it was always Bactrim on the skin and Cephlexin by mouth. Unless the Medication bothered her prior then it wouldn't be related. But be on the safe side and always have skin issues checked by a Doctor. Due to the Immune System it takes awhile for some skin issues to clear up. We worried over 's Skin issues before we found out this had turned into Staph infection which is probably what your daughter has now. Ummmm Poison Ivy and Poison Oak will run so if she scratches the infected skin and then touch another place on the body it normally will be there as well. PLEASE make sure she understands do not scratch or touch the Eyes, Mouth or nose. As boy with she will have a Bad issue. Before I understood the Skin issue involement. ended up with a rash on her behind went from a few spots to covering her WHOLE rearend and the bactrim was not working. Her whole rear was RAW meat. It has started down the top of her legs before 1 Doctor said ok it is Staph and we have to treat it inside and out. Once treatment was done right she got better. But would break out in a rash and then we would treat inside and out each time. Remember this as a Infection if not treated right will spread. You may have to rotate with 2 Antibotics as well. Cephlexin and or Augumentin. RobbinSee what's free at AOL.com.
Guest guest
Another thing that you can try, at least to relieve some of the rawness, itching and redness, it to try using a little bit of avocado or shea butter, or even pure aloe vera on it. All three are natural skin healers and the aloe vera has natural anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. They all can help minimize any scarring issues that you might be concerned with. has been getting rashes lately, mainly on her arms, waist area and neck, and I've been using a balm on her that I make containing, aloe vera gel, avocado butter, and avocado oil. This helps to start clearing it up within a day and helps keep the itching way down. HTH! & (5, soon to be 6! JRA, Ank Spon) See what's free at AOL.com. The reason I say it kind of looks like acne is that is is small round white bumps that kind of look like a white head but there are alot of them and they are all small round and the same size very regular in appearance and distance from each other. She says it started when she was given fenugreek sprouts. ==>How long ago did she have the fenugreek sprouts? > She resently had kidney stones that she took parsley tea for. She > complaines she is bloated and uncomfortable. I looked at pictures on the internet and don't find anything that looks like it. Any suggestions. Her doctors in her country haven't been able to help. ==>In order to avoid getting kidney stones minerals need to be balanced. Pop, soda, and probably other drinks are very high in phosphorus which throws off mineral balances. Also antacids which contain calcium and no magnesium. ==>No matter what skin disorder it is, the root cause is toxins. She probably has candida too, and even if she doesn't this program will help her a lot - it also includes detoxifying techniques besides the diet. It is mainly the high saturated fats in this diet which help the body detoxify too; they even chelate out heavy metals. Bee

Fenugreek is a strong antioxidant and detoxifier, so it I think it triggered healing symptoms. If she would continue having them, but start with small amounts and gradually increase them they will assist her body to heal. But, again, it is most important she gets all of the nutrients required to help her body heal - my diet plus supplements. There are other antioxidants and detoxifiers on my program too. Cloves or clove oil are one of very best - see the article on them in the Candida Antifungal Treatments folder (left menu on our group). I believe she has candida so starting slowly on the diet and supplements would be better for her. The best, Bee
Guest guest
Hi Bee: I had the same thing happen this week to the point that I could not go out in public. hundreds of bumps... I realized is was healing as my lymph nodes all over my body were really swollen. Now, my skin, which has been the bane of my existence is clearer than ever. My lymph node swelling is lower than ever as well. But, The scores pimples on th back of my head, my neck and public area are persisting. I'm so happy with my dramatic improvements, but is there anything I can do about the bumps? Thanks Bee wrote: > > > > ==>Hi Pat. I suggest you increase detoxification - see the article " How to Detoxify Effectively " in the " Candida Symptoms, Help For " folder. Guest guest
Hi Bee, Back in JulyI posted a question about a friend with a skin infection. I taught her alot about what I have learned from you about candida. She is taking the coconut oil regularly internally and topically. I gave her oregano oiland I believe she is taking it. I believe she is getting quite serious about her diet avoiding sugars etc. We are unable to communicate very well because she doesn't have easy access to the internet and there is a language barrier. The other day I was thinking again about it and did a search for pictures of staph infections. As I was searching I came across photos of Malassezia folliculitis These are the web sites showing it. www.dermnetnz.org/fungal/pityrosporum-folliculitis.html and http://www.emedicine.com/derm/topic338.htm. No question that is it. -The yeast tends to overgrow in hot, humid, sweaty environments. -Sweating is encouraged by wearing occlusive clothing. -Broad spectrum oral antibiotics (often prescribed for acne), which suppress skin bacteria allowing yeasts to proliferate. She has reported the coconut oil is helping but has not put a serious dent in it. I was wondering if you would have further recommendations now that we know what it is. The articles recommend some meds that I know nothing about and seem harsh. I thought it ironic that The article reports that this condition often goes misdiagnosed and those who suffer from it often go years with improper treatment for acne. Thanks for all you do Pat Brogan

This program will cure any bugs in the body, not just candida. Antifungals I recommend, like coconut oil, garlic, oil of oregano, etc., are also antibacterial and antiviral. That is why I had a website called " Healing Naturally " . This program will improve anyone's health no matter what the cause. The two main things to becoming healthy are: diet plus supplements which provides all of the nutrients the body needs to heal itself, and eliminating toxins, including all drugs, and all processed foods and drinks, etc. - which is what my program is all about. When we follow Nature's Law we can't go wrong. Luv, Bee
