About 4 years ago, I started > having problems digesting meats. It began with pork, then beef, then chicken and turkey. About 30 mins after consuming said meats, I would throw up. ==>Lori, as you have probably realized that was because you weren't having enough good nature-made fats with the meats. > So I stopped eating all of those. For a long time, I was still able to eat eggs, fish and seafood, but would occassionally get ill from those as well. I basically became a vegetarian because of the fear of getting ill. Since starting on Bee's diet, I have had eggs, different types of fish, buffalo meat, and today, pork. None of them have made me ill so far. However, now I am craving protein in massive amounts. Should I indulge my cravings, or try to stave them off? I am afraid of eating too much protein, even though I am still keeping my fat content high and my carbs low. ==>You can indulge in your cravings " if " and only " if " you maintain the correct ratios of fats to meats/eggs, which is about 25% protein to 75% good fats. In fact you can live quite healthy on only meats and fats. But too little fat will make you sick. There is such a thing as " rabbit starvation " - because rabbits have such a small amount of fats natives and explorers knew they would get sick if they were forced to eat only rabbits so they tried desperately to hunt other animals that had higher fats, i.e. bison, deer, etc. ==>That said, it is a waste of money to get your carbs from meats, as opposed to carbs. Carbs are cheaper than meats. 58% of meats/eggs and 10% of good fats turn into carbs in the body. That's why humans can live on meats and fats only like the Eskimos. I went back through the entire week of my Foods on FitDay and I am still maintaining about a 70% Fat, 20% Protein and 10% Carb based diet. Most of my carbs are coming from green leafy vegetables (I have a love affair with spinach and mixed baby greens *laughs*). So does it sound like I am on the right track? The only reason I am worried is because some days (but not everyday) I go over the amount of grams of protein I should have according to your calculations. Oh, and as of today, I have lost a total of 5 lbs! I know weight loss is not the main objective of this diet, but as a diabetic who desperately needs to lose weight, this is exciting news indeed for me. with Metta, ~Lori~
