Guest guest
Hi Bee, Firstly, thankyou so much for the information about this problem. I think it is the answer for me. I have started cutting tings out and adding supplements for a few weeks now and can feel some improvement already. I haven't been strict, but i've managed to cut out most sugars (except those hidden in restaurant foods, sauces etc), and carbs except for small amounts of bread and rice. Of course, at this time of year it is difficult to avoid alcohol. I know this will delay the healing time, but will I still benefit from doing the diet most of the time with some slip-ups? I'm hoping that's the case because I plan to go strict early in the new year to beat this thing once-and-for-all. Thanks a million, Matt
Guest guest
Hey Matt... As a former beer-maniac, I would advise to avoid alcohol like the plague. I'm easing into the diet just as you are, but haven't had any alcohol for a month and a week or so. Just last night, we attended a friends graduate school graduation and were invited to a big party at his new house afterwards. I did cheat a little (but as I'm still easing into the diet, I think that's okay). I think I had about 10 little wheat thin crackers with a dollop of a cheese log. But other than that, I ate veggies from the tray and a helping of barbequed pork with no sauce. EVERYONE was drinking beer there... good imported beer... or wine or vodka (some Russians were there, of course!) But guess what??? My wife and I didn't drink anything at all, even though some were curious. So I did eat a small amount of bad stuff, but NOTHING like I could have in that situation. There was a table of desserts and home-made cakes and we avoided them too. In my opinion, nothing will set you back as fast as booze or high sugar desserts, so don't attempt to justify them, even at this time of year. Instead of telling people I'm on some type of new radical diet, etc..., I've just started saying a small white lie. " I'm going to be tested for food allergies soon by an allergist, and I have to avoid most kinds of sugars, glutens, additives, etc... before I go in for testing " . People just say, " Oh... sorry you have to do that with us eating all of this food in front of you, but good luck! " If you are going to be treated by a doctor, they think it's okay... but if you are treating yourself by lifestyle change and smart choices, you become strange, it seems.
