Should I > be overly concerned? ==>Hi . Coconut oil is excellent for dogs. It will help heal and strengthen his bowels and his whole body just like it does for us. It also helps his body get rid of toxins. The mucus from his stool is because the body creates it to get rid of toxins. The little bit of blood isn't a problem - it may be just from straining, which makes tiny cuts/fissures in the anus. Put some CO in a dish and let him have as much as he wants - he will know. My sister started giving CO to her very old Cocker and at her next check-up with the vet, the vet was looking at Sadie and looking at the chart, saying this can't be the same dog! The vet was amazed at how good her eyes and ears were - my sister put CO drops in both. Cockers are notorious for having eye and ear problems. I have a coconut oil book that recommends it for horses and cats too. Did you see the article on Candida in Dogs on my website?
