Irv................you are so right it is a life changing experence. For

some reason I forgot to put on my CI when I left for work today. I was driving

down the road and realized that I had forgotten it. But I didn't have time to

return to the house to pick it up. So went on to work without it........I

swear I'll never do that again. I work at Wal-Mart and people are always asking

for one thing or another. I could not read lips at all tonight, it was just

awful. I was a very good lip reader before I got the implant but I have been

depending on hearing now, and I don't read lips as much. I did not reliaze

just how much I had come to depend on that implant. Thanks to all for listening

to me.

Patsy, I've done it a few times myself. I always catch it though because I turn

on the radio before pulling out. No smooth jazz means no CI.

Yep, it's one year today! My only problem is still music....much of it still

sounds like noise. My Audie has tried a few things, but without success. Oh,

well, I guess I should be thankful for what I have....not what I do not.

L'Shanah to you also Jackie.

Happy 1st Anniversary, Irv.

I am happy it had help you even though not in music. I am sure some day soon

the music will sound good to you although some music out there now are for the

birds and I bet even they would love to cover their tiny ears.

I shall joins a in grasping a straw. In my case just to get inside the door

for a hearing evaluation. I met a gentleman at the CI Workshop here in Winnipeg

few weeks ago and he told me he waited 2 years to get his hearing evaluation.

He likes his CI very much.

BTW Jackie, what does " L'Shanah " mean?

It means Happy New Year. The Jewish New Year just passed. I also waited almost a

year to be evaluated by Kaiser Permanante here in Ca. Before evaluation they

insist on you wearing digital HA's for a month or so to see if they help. I and

my Audie both know they would only make the unclear sound louder, but rules are

rules. At first, they said the waiting list was about a year or more, but people

dropped off I imagine as the time passed. I haven't regretted my decision to go

ahead with the surgery one iota. I hope you succeed in yur CI quest. Belie me,

it will be worth the wait.

No Dolly, they loan them to you/ No charge. It's funny how everyone associates

hard of hearing with volume. When you ask them to repeat something, they

automatically speak louder. Doesn't help, does it.

When you had to wear the Digital HA for one month, did you have to pay for it?

Like you my own audie said the same thing, the better HA just make voices louder

NOT CLEARER.

Well I waited this long, I guess I can hang on for another year to get my fins

and tail into the front door.

I can understand that from most people but when a professional had the same

idea it's a bit disturbing. 'Sounds like Kaiser people are either not very

well informed or are stone-walling. Probably the latter.

Over and over I have to tell people: Please speak slowly and clearly but not

louder....A waste of breath. While I'm beefing: I've taken a friend with me to

some dental appointments lately. It's like pulling eye teeth (pun intended) to

get these professionals to speak to me, not to my companion!

Hi . I also remember when you were first implanted in late December. I was

travelling back to Ca. on that day from a trip East with my family there. I

thought about you all the way home. Yes, time does fly when you're having fun!

Hope you are doing well in school.

Dearest Anita,

I'm so very thrilled for you! That is very very well done.

You've done it through hard work and persistence and I commend you

for sticking to it! Are you a sassier diva than I am now? LOL!

I cannot thank you enough for writing such a wonderful testimonial

and " cheerleading for Bee " report! May I please post it in our

Success Stories??
