Guest guest
Hi h, You need to be careful with Vitamin A during pregnancy. It is thought to be teratogenic (can cause birth defects) in high doses. I had a scare and had to have amniocentesis. I've included some links about it. http://www.thenutritionreporter.com/A-vitamins.html http://www.pregnancy-calendars.net/vitamina.asp http://www.foresight-preconception.org.uk/booklet_vita.htm
Guest guest
Thank you , for giving these links. I had two sons with heart defects while taking vitamin A. All this came out shortly after they were born. One of my sons had heart sugery and is now 21 years old. He needs to be checked every two years to see if his new valve is still working right and may have to have it replaced someday soon. I took vitamin A in a natural form and it was a small dose--10,000iu's. That is the smallest amount in each capsule you can buy. They also come in 25,000iu's and higher. I did mention this on Bee's site before. I can't remember who I gave the message to. It was someone who was pregnant. I never told my doctor about it, but always felt guilty that I may have caused this problem by taking the vit A. My two girls were born with no problems and I had not taken the A with these pregnancies. I remember reading several reports of heart problems with that supplement since. I am so glad to see that you found something on it to share here. Val Hi h, You need to be careful with Vitamin A during pregnancy. Guest guest
Hello Bee and all, I just found out that I am pregnant for the first time (yay!). Although this was for the most part unplanned, my partner and I are extremely happy. I know there have been a few pregnancy posts recently, but i'd like to say a couple things. First, thank you so much bee for sharing this program and lifestyle. and thanks to everyone for your continued support. I am so grateful that I found this group and have been on the complete diet and supps and all for 6 months BEFORE getting pregnant. I am hopeful that this combined with staying on the program will make the baby (and me) much healthier than would have been possible before. I am definitely going to stay with the diet through the birth, and probably for longer. I read in recent posts that Bee said not to change or augment supplements, including folic acid. The vitamin A debate has me a little freaked out, especially after reading so much contradictory advice about taking CLO or not. After reading Weston Price, I have decided to hedge my bets and take a serving size (10,000 iu vit a) of the high vitamin (blue ice ) CLO every day, and also a normal amount of fish oil for omega 3s. Which is basically continuing to follow the candida diet recommendations. Does this sound OK? So far (only 1 mo), I feel great. My candida symptoms had just about all but disappeared in the past couple months, and since becoming pregnant, overall I am feeling fine with just a little bit of bowel/stomach discomfort, tiredness and occasional dizziness. Anyway thanks again, and for anyone else pregnant on this list, shoot me a private email if you have any other suggestions!

Guest guest
Thanks Crystal, I think I am 5 weeks, but I don't really know for sure...I am going to find a midwife this go around. Guest guest
- Congratulations on your pregnancy!!!!! you are sooooo lucky! do you see an provider for your armour? because I think that you should be managed with your amour during your pregnancy to make sure you get enough and you and the little one are safe. as far as supplementation goes continue taking your vits and minerals, adrenal or iodine if you take them, but also your prenatals and plenty of iron. if you take any herbs, I would stop them until you know they are safe in pregnancy. because many are toxic to the fetus and are contraindicated in pregnancy. xo nancie Well, it is affirmed. Guest guest
I second that. You might be interested to know that PG women on iodine list are taking 12.5mg iodine/iodide. It is very important for many developing organs and also lactation. Gracia , Congratulations! Guest guest
, You will probably get bombarded with advice but one thing I wanted to say for sure is to make sure you take folic acid. It is extremely important to the development of your baby. My brother and sister-in-law, 17yrs ago had an adorable baby however he also had spina-bifida. It was later that they found that she should have been taking folic acid during her pregancy but her doctor never brought it up to her. It is well known that folic acid is vital in the development. I am sure you already know this because of all the other healthy habits you have but I just had to bring it up. Have a wonderfully blessed pregnancy! Venizia > > > > Well, it is affirmed. Guest guest
It can happen that way sometimes. Your period can stick around for a time after you become pregnant, and then BOOM you could be in your third month. Also you could have conceived, lost it, and immediately conceived again. There are many scenarios but, don't concern yourself with those. Just enjoy this and take care of yourself. I would make my doctor aware of everything, including a written list of everything you are taking, whether prescribed or not, and make a copy. This is for your protection. Guest guest
You bring up a good point. When I got hit with fibromyalgia in 1997, I didn't know anything about it, so I enrolled in a course to study it and learn what I needed to know. One of the things they taught us was not to automatically attribute our symptoms to a chronic illness, because other important conditions could be missed or put off. LOL........You are the perfect illustration of that. Roni and Irwin <familyirwin@...> wrote: Thanks Roni, O man, I feel silly!! Here I am thinking it is all hypo related. Guest guest
, Congratulations!! I'm 34 weeks pregnant (baby is due in March) and I thought I was seriously going to die the first trimester. The information from this group was SO helpful. I started having severe hypo symptoms before I even knew I was pregnant. My 1st endo wanted to reduce my Armour (I was on 3 grains) and the next endo wanted to switch me to synthroid, even though I know I have trouble converting. I started self-medicating. This group recommended the top thyroid doc list, which is where I found endo #3. I'm now taking 5 grains and he is going to increase to 6 for the last month. I feel so much better. It is kind of hard distinguishing prego symptoms from hypothyroid symptoms though (tired, swelling, absolutely no energy By the way, I ended up taking my prenatals and folic acid at night to make sure they don't interfere with my meds. But I have to leave them by my nightstand to remember to take them! Anyways, I wish you the best of luck. - Crystal <sweetnwright@...> wrote: Ohhhhhh!!!! Congratulations!!!!!! You will definitely increase your Armour Your blood volumes doubles and so will your meds. With me I was at double the dosage within the first 12 weeks. So make sure you get in to your midwife quickly and let them know you are hypo!!!!! The last time I was pregnant I began the increase immediately since knew I was at least 4-5 weeks in. Make sure your daily has folic acid! I didn't do pre-natal's since most of those are " cheap. " The women's daily from Garden of Life (Jordan preached at our church this morning) has wonderful ingredients! So how far along do you think you are? Again, congrat's!!!!! Cw -- Pregnant Well, it is affirmed. I am pregnant. Explains the sore breasts and weight gain (although I've had both for 4 months now with negative tests up until today.)
