Guest guest
Hello Bee, I've just found Mercola's latest article on raw egg whites... http://www.mercola.com/2005/feb/9/raw_eggs.htm he states that egg whites do increase loss of biotin as there isn't enough biotin in a raw yoke to compensate. I tend to agree with this stance as over the last couple of days whilst experimenting with the raw eggs I have found them very yummy but I have had numbness and tingling in my hands, fingers and toes. I have changed nothing else in the last two days and these are new symptoms that are also associated with biotin deficiency. I think I will stick to raw yokes and cooked whites or soft boiled/poached eggs. Thanks, Amy

I get healing reactions also with the egg drink, and then I feel much better after a day or two.. better than before having the drink. Guest guest
Another interesting point - I found this while researching this issue further on the Mercola site: " Fresh raw egg yolk tastes like vanilla and is best combined with your vegetable pulp. You can also combine it with avocado. Only stir it gently with a fork, because egg protein easily gets damaged on a molecular level, even by mixing/blending. " This makes me wonder about blending up Bee's raw egg drink. Bee, what do you think? Here's where I found it: http://www.mercola.com/2002/nov/13/eggs.htm#examine This article lists how to tell if your egg is safe to consume raw. Guest guest
Hi Debby, Thanks for replying. It is a great coincidence that biotin deficiency symptoms are tingling of the hands and feet and this is exactly what I started to experience after having the egg drinks. There is a lot of literature stating that raw egg whites can lead to biotin deficiency, including Mercola's website. Sorry I'm still not convinced on raw egg whites!! But I will have undercooked/raw yokes as much as possible and cook my whites. I have changed nothing else in the last two days and these are new symptoms that are also associated with biotin deficiency. ==>You would also be taking B complex which contains Biotin so you are getting plenty to offset any problems caused by egg whites. For long periods of time I've had 8 raw eggs per day and didn't experience any numbness and tingling. But certainly if you are concerned eat 2 whole raw eggs and the rest only use the yolks. ==>You can also use cooked egg whites in the egg drink. Beaten eggs have been used in foods for eons, even by our ancestors, and I do not believe beating, whipping or blending eggs could cause any damage. If that were true I'm sure Sally Fallon would have cautioned us in her cookbook " Nourishing Traditions " but instead she instructs you to beat eggs in her scrambled egg recipe. I almost lived off the raw egg drink over 2 years ago when I was so stressed and got candida the 2nd time. If the eggs were damaged my health would not have improved. Guest guest
No worries, I understand you are skeptical. Keep in mind also that eggs contain a lot of sulpher, and sulpher is beneficial to killing candida.
