So a person needs to take about 7 softgels per day to get enough omega 3. Bee
Guest guest
> Hi Bee, > The label doesn't show soy oil. Here is how it reads. I guess that's why I assumed that it was OK. It didn't say " free of soy " , but it didn't have soy in the " other ingredients " list. I almost got really excited about another fish oil product on Vitacost's site. It said that it was free of soy, but in the ingredients, it had soybean oil! What on EARTH is up with that? Last time I checked, soybean oil came from soybeans. in IN
Guest guest
I don't think there are fish oil pills that do not contain soy. I've spent a lot of time on vitacost, vitaminshoppe sites and at local pharmacies. The only brands that specifically claim to not have soy is PharmaPure's Fish Oil and Country Life's Omega 3 Mood. I find the claims hard to believe because they are also softgels. Please correct me if I'm wrong. -Gene

Do you live in the tropics where you get enough sun? Lucky you, if you do. ==>There are many good companies that make softgels that are good. Check out our cod liver oil folder in our files (left menu) for websites, some of which I'm sure also sell fish oil softgels. ==>You could try putting a different subject line in so the group can help you too - try " where do I get good fish oil softgels? " The best, Bee

Guest guest
Hello, > > ==>Pure Fish oils wouldn't normally contain soy Gene, unless they are > made from synthetic sources. But are you trying to buy Fish Oil or Cod > Liver Oil? Do you live in the tropics where you get enough sun? Lucky > you, if you do. I take fish oil to regulate my mood. I understand many of the liquid forms (of cod liver and fish oil) don't have any soy ingredients or derivatives. I do prefer them in softgel form, though, as a matter of convenience. > ==>There are many good companies that make softgels that are good. > Check out our cod liver oil folder in our files (left menu) for > websites, some of which I'm sure also sell fish oil softgels. I have checked and the ones that sell fish oils do not state that there is no soy in them. I've discovered the reason they have soy (or don't mention that it doesn't contain it) is because it is their main source of vitamin E. Research has shown that long-term intake of fish oils may cause a deficiency in vitamin E. That's why fish oil makers have been adding soy. The amount of soy is probably very negligible, so it may be OK to bite the bullet in this case. Two other fish oils that do not contain soy are NOW Foods MaxEPA 1000mg and Smart Basics EPA Fish Lipid Concentrate 1000mg. Guest guest
Does it say on the label that it does not contain soy? I have checked the maker's web site (purecaps.com) and for that product, it doesn't state this. Also, they have added vitamin E in the form of d-alpha- tocopherol, which is usually derived from soybeans. -Gene > > " Pure Encapsulations EPA/DHA Essentials " is what I get - contains NO soy. Guest guest
i have a questions regarding foods that are not allowed and symptoms... I ate kilbasi this weekend not realizing it was not allowed( should have known because it tasted sooo good) and i had a reaction during the day with tiredness and blood sugar feelings of ups and downs. I drank a lot of water with lemon( because i cant add the salt as it just burns my stomach) and it helped during the day, but while sleeping my heart races upon waking up for a few seconds. I have a mitrovalve prolapse, which i have had my whole life and am just aware of with my yeasty condition. the weird thing is i do my adrenal trigger points treatment and the racing gets better. What does that indicate? Those adrenals exercises help me as does dry skin brushing, but my adrenals are not sore when i do this exercise as the article indicates they might be. Thanks... Guest guest
It DOES in fact say " no soy " on the labelling.
Guest guest
They also add vitamin E because apparently fish oil can oxidize and turn rancid quickly. The soy acts as a preservative. So I suppose it's somewhat impossible to avoid soy. If you want to take softgels and minimize the soy intake, the best approach is to get fish oils that don't have tocopherols listed as being added. -Gene

Hi Gene, even " if " the vitamin E used as a preservative is made from soy it is a small amount compared to the benefit you get from taking the fish oil or cod liver oil. It may not always be possible to avoid everything that's bad. The ideal scene is always best, but not always obtainable. Cheers, Bee
