Hi Deb,

I would suggest that you enquire by phoning your City Hall if they

use chlorine or chloramine to decontaminate city water. If they use

chloramine, a filter designed to remove chlorine will not remove

need a special filter designed for that specifically; otherwise,

buying a filter designed for chlorine will be money thrown away.

Hope this helps.

Gee Fran, that is some great information that I was not aware of.

I'll have to check into the cloramine issue for our area. Thanks so

much for sharing. :-) I love all the great information we learn from

each other on this site!

Hello Deb..... In response to your question about shower filters, we

have been using Rainshowe'r because it was the most affordable for us

at the time compared to others we looked at on the web.

Most places sell them for around $38.00 (and higher) and the

replacement filters for around $17.99. However, we were able to find

them locally for a much better price. $29.99 for the CQ-1000

cartridge that comes with a filter. We can buy the replacement filter

for $15.99.

I understand the filter will last anywhere from 6 months to a year

depending on your shower use. On the average, I have heard the

filters do not need to be replaced for about a year.

The difference was amazing when we showered. No more chlorine smell!

Our hair and skin became softer. Even my hairdresser noticed a

difference and asked me what kind of shampoo I was using. lol

Here's their site if you are interested in exploring.

http://www.rainshowermfg.com/

I see that www.Amazon.com sells them for $32.95 and the filter for

$17.99.

process=default & dispatch=search/ref=pd_sl_ms_tops-

Anyway, for our limited budget, it was a start, so I hope this helps!

Merry Christmas and lots of hugs to you and Fran!

Debra NW :-)

** I was a bit shocked when I first found out about that. Especially

since I was about to choose a water filtration system without knowing

about it. Thank God for my finding the info in time. The contractor

hired for the RRAP did not even know about it, nor did the local

companies I contacted. They learned this vital info from me, and

they're the " specialists " ; imagine!... :- )
