Guest guest
I've been lurking on this group for a few months now and decided it's time I introduce myself. My name is April, hi everyone. Back in June of this year I started having symptoms of bloating, cramps that reminded me of menstrual cramps or early pregnancy, etc, and also felt like I had a bladder infection. I went to an OB, found out I did not have any sign of any infections, nor was I pregnant. I even had an ultrasound which showed everything perfectly fine. I was having other symptoms too (some for quite some time I don't even know how long): alternating constipation and diarrhea that began during my pregnancy with my daughter last year and that had continued even after she was born, fatigue, mood swings, muscle and joint aches, headaches, sinus problems, aching skin, itchy skin, brain fog, etc. I went to a chiropractor who after listening to my complaints and muscle testing me, told me I had candida. This was in July. He put me on some cleansing supplements and a no yeast/sugar/gluten/dairy diet. I lost 25 pounds in a 6 week time frame and my symtoms improved somewhat but were all still there. I ran out of supplements and started searching for different ways to approach ridding myself of the candida, and found this group. I've read many of the files and have learned a lot. I've already been low-carbing and also have read much from Weston A Price so I am familiar with a lot of the ideas in this healing diet of yours Bee. Since I've studied Weston A Price and have Nourishing Traditions I already do take most of the supplements you recommend. I've even done all meat in short stints. Now I understand why on all meat, I felt like a million bucks but then after a few days I felt so awful I thought I would die (heart racing, anxious, insomnia, horrible carb cravings). On all meat there were days I felt like a completely new person, so calm with so much more energy and not feeling obsessed about food. But I gave in to carbs when I must have been having some bad die off. So even though I found this great group about 2 months ago I have had some pretty bad eating going on through birthdays, Thanksgiving, and emotional eating on my part. It brought back a lot of symptoms and I gained back a few pounds. I'm ready to get back on track though. My whole family is doing this with me..my husband, my 3 yr old son, and 14 month old daughter. They all have obvious signs of candida. I do find it challenging with my kids though, as we babysit two other children that are fed things like fruit, popcorn, and juice on a regular basis. It's better with my 14 month old because she loves things like meat and absolutely adores sauerkraut, but my 3 yr old will try to sneak the other kid's food all the time. We are improving that though by making sure to bring lots of health food with us and by me keeping an eye on him if he runs into their kitchen. I also wanted to mention something interesting about my brother. When I read Maddalena's story I started wondering about something that has happened with my brother. When he was 10 yrs old he had an operation on his brain to removed a malignant tumor, a medula blastoma. Through surgery and radiation therapy he was cured of the cancer however now he is legally blind. You'd think something happened to his eyes in surgery but there is nothing wrong with his optic nerve. It is still intact but is atrophied. Could candida be causing this? It's a medical mystery to all the doctors he has seen over the years. I'm ready to get healthy! So glad to have found this group.
