Guest guest
Hi! I'm familiar with Von Willebrands disease. I have a close friend with it and have been hearing all about it for years. What I've heard is that certain things can cause bleeding problems and they are accidents, surgery and sometimes pregnancy. My friend has a large family and quite a few of her children and grandchildren inherited it from her. None have had too many problems as the doctors need to be informed about it in an emergency. I think they need to give a clotting factor or plasma to help the blood clot properly, when needed. Just about three weeks ago my friends grandaughter with the condition got hit by a car on her bike. She broke both legs and had a concussion and other scrapes. Her foot was almost severed. She is 13 and had to be flown to Mayo's for treatment. She is now doing well and got the blood condition under control with the right treatment. I'm not sure about the fish oil. It would seem that it could thin the blood. I would think it would be great to prevent strokes, as you would want the blood to be more thin as not to clot and cause a stroke. But for a bleeding disorder, I'm not sure what it would do. You could have a blood pro-time test to see how long it takes for it to clot while on fish oil. Let us know what you find out. EPA inhibits platelet aggregation (makes them less sticky). For those of us with clotting disorders, such as von Willebrand disease, we should be aware that taking fish oils can increase the liklihood of bleeding or hemorrage. In addition, von Willebrand disease is underdiagnosed, so there are many people who have a mild case and are unaware of it. Adding EPA to their diet could increase their chances of having a bleeding event. " -Family Foundations October 2006 Are there any symptoms of clotting disorders? Should we go in for testing to see if we have a problem with clotting. I've been taking cod liver oil for about 2 years now, is it safe to say that if something were going to happen, it wouldve already happened? --------------------------------- Stay in the know. It's like a lot of medical issues, where " they " want to make you believe you have something serious and so you must get tested to ensure you are okay. What a bunch of marlarky that is. ==>If you get a slight cut and it bleeds profusely you should get tested, and then you would need to balance your body's nutrients in order to correct the bleeding factor before taking cod liver oil, fish oil, garlic, oregano oil, clove oil and many other herbs and spices that make the blood thin. Otherwise I wouldn't worry about it. Bee
Guest guest
Bee, Von Willebrands disease is a real condition that can be life threatening. It does sound as if this gal has it as she says " For those of us with clotting disorders, such as von Willebrand disease, we should be aware that taking fish oils..... My friend had many babies and would bleed profusely and did not know why. After her last couple of pregnancies she found that she had the inherited form of this and had to take precautions. She had many transfusions to help her through before knowing the cause. Now most of her children and grandchildren have it. Her grandaughter almost died on the way to Mayo's from bleeding profusely after getting hit by a car. She was in the hospital for two weeks and is now home and doing well. The doctors here did not know how to treat it, it is rare. And it is similar to hemophilia. Most people would " know " if they had it because just a razor knick or a slight cut would bleed abnormally. Most people with candida have the opposite problem because candida creates sticky blood, which clots. That is one reason many women with candida have painful periods, and why people with candida have cold extremities. Bee

Do people with cold extremities always have cold extremities, or is it an off and on thing. I have found my hands and feet aren't as cold as often, mine is an off and on thing, which seems to have lessened in the past few months. Candida toxins not only make sticky blood but they also make all of the cells in the body go rigid, including white and red blood cells. Blood cells need to be flexible so they can get into the smallest capillaries, particularly in the hands and feet, but when they are rigid they aren't as able to nourish and warm the extremities. > Do people with cold extremities always have cold extremities, or is it an off and on thing. I have found my hands and feet aren't as cold as often, mine is an off and on thing, which seems to have lessened in the past few months. ==>Cold extremities will diminish as you continue to progress on the candida program, but there are ups and downs along the way, so it could be an off and on thing like you describe.
