Guest guest
, You need to read bee's file on successfully overcoming candida. You are eating foods which feed candida, although you may think they are healthy foods. I had digestive disturbances also and the diet will take care of those in time, but you need to eat foods allowed and give it time. I was amazed that my digestion settled down once i ate the proper foods. The only advice i can give to you is to stick to the diet and know that cheating only hurts you. Best of luck to you. Guest guest
Hi . Welcome to our wonderful group. You've come to the right place but like Sue wrote please please read my main article which was sent to you when you joined, or find it in our Group's Files (left menu) - it is in the first folder. Once you read that article you will understand why you are not making progress on your current diet, along with taking nystatin. When you've been able to read the article, next read the other article in that same folder, Candida, How to Get Started, then get back to us with questions. We're here to help and support you, but you do need to change your diet - you'll see why after reading. You can beat this fungus, but it's tough and it takes time and patience to heal your body naturally. But there are no quick fixes my friend. Read and enjoy! Guest guest
> , Are you new to this group? I just read your message and I really sympathize with you. I am sorry you are going through such a hard time, and I personally know that the idea of starting a new job on top of being sick just makes you even worse. Stress causes the candida to get worse. Anyway, in addition to following the diet here on this support group, including not eating fruit which is soooo hard, it seems like maybe you are having some parasite issues as well. Someone told me that when you wake up in the middle of the night every night, especially if it's around 3 or 4 in the morning that that is when the parasites are the most active and they're likely to make you feel bad at that time so you wake up. I have had that problem myself. I've noticed that drinking certain herbal teas helps with sleeping and also eating pumpkin seeds kills the parasites. (Not for sure if they are allowed on the diet or not...). Anyway, I hope you get some relief and I'll keep you in prayer. ita OH while I'm writing this reply, I just wanted to know if anyone here has had any experience with using a parasite zapper? I will check the files and past posts for any info... -ita
Guest guest
Thanks for your supportive thoughts Jaunita - yes I am new to this forum, and already have been impressed by the response. I will check closely Bee's articles and see how I can try and modify diet to help combat the condition. Your comment re parasites is interesting as it was something I had considered previously, and discussed with my Dr, however testing for giardia, cryptosporidium etc etc found nothing. Maybe it is a bug that has eluded the testing which I had done several months ago. I have been drinking hebal teas (given up coffee - which hurts!?) and trying to promtoe better sleep habits. I will try eating pumpkin seed to see if that can provide releif. thanks again and regards Pete > > > > > , > > Are you new to this group? I just read your message and I really > sympathize with you. Guest guest
Thanks Bee - your response, and that of others, is much apprecaited - I will print the article and get started on diet changes. ita has suggested pumpkin seeds for eliminating parasites - can you comment? I have been tested for the well-known bugs such as giardia and crypto. Are there others and do they produce symptoms similar to mine - night sweats and waking dreams/gut pain and gurgling. regards pete > > > > I am 52 years old, male, and reasonably active and in good health > > other than suffering the effects of a candida bowel infection which > > I have now endured for over 12 months. I have been tested for the well-known bugs such as giardia and crypto. Are there others and do they produce symptoms similar to mine - night sweats and waking dreams/gut pain and gurgling. regards pete Hi Pete. I responded to your previous message that pumpkin seeds are a no-no on the candida diet. If you were tested and cleared for parasites you do not have to be concerned about them. Night sweats are caused by your body working hard to detoxify, so doing the things I recommend in addition to diet and supplements will help, i.e. dry skin brushing, coffee enemas, Epsom salt baths, lemon juice & ocean sea salt in water 6 times a day (recipe in my article or in our Recipe Folder under Drinks & Teas), etc. The gut pain and gurgling is caused by candida which puts out carbon dioxide (gas) causing pain and bloating. Having digestive problems is typical of most candida sufferers. This diet plus supplements will help you; do check out your stomach acid levels and take digestive enzymes as noted in the Digestion Folder. Good saturated fats are very important for the intestines because they strengthen and heal them. These are included in the diet, i.e. butter, coconut oil, lard, etc. and other naturally occurring fats in meats. Cheers, Bee
Guest guest
Hi Bee, have been following the diet now for a week, with some improvement in symptoms. Night sweats have abated and the tummy rumbles seem to have subsided. Sometimes I awake with dry mouth/throat and face flushes. I have reduced the Nystatin dose to one capsule three times a day with a Pao d'arco tablet 500mg, and take a multivitamin plus fish oil and calcium/magnesium in the morning. What can you recommend to overcome feelings of tiredness and lethargy which now seem to be occuring as a result of the low sugar/low carbs. Maybe there are drinks which I can make which are easy to prepare and can be added into the diet. I need to attend job interviews and be alert, so energy levels are important. At 2pm each day I quite often sit down and find myself napping for 30-60 mins! I note that almonds contain very few carbs and sugar - are they OK to include in the early stages of the diet. Are there any dairy items which can be included, as this is one food group which I find difficult to exclude? PS thanks for the support. Guest guest
hi there, I'm not Bee, but is it possible you are still going through a withdrawal? die off type symptoms? I can't imagine a week is nearly long enough to experience improvements or have the withdrawal or die off effect disappear. I took three weeks to improve the first time I tried the diet. I had die off all that time. Part of my symptoms during that time were overhwelming feelings of wanting to sleep! I was tired and felt odd and drugged. It took weeks to subside. I wonder if you are overdoing it, you started the diet one week ago, and you're taking antifungals as well. Do you think it might be easier if you allow your body to adjust to the diet alone? before using antifungals at this stage? The diet on it's own takes some adjustment, as it's a profound change and yeast die on this alone. Add antifungals on top of it, when yu've not been on the diet for long and I'd imagine it would probably overwhelm you. Bee would be best to advise on this, but just my opinion. Do you take vitamin C? That might help a little, plus other antioxidants. > > Hi Bee, have been following the diet now for a week, with some > improvement in symptoms. Guest guest
> > Hi Bee, have been following the diet now for a week, with some > improvement in symptoms. Night sweats have abated and the tummy > rumbles seem to have subsided. ==>That's great you are noticing improvements at this early stage. > Sometimes I awake with dry mouth/throat and face flushes. ==>Dry mouth/throat indicates you are breathing through your mouth rather than your nose - see Breathe Right folder about how important it is to practice breathing through your nose. Or it can indicate you are not consuming enough minerals and/or good fats. Both are required for your body's cells to utilize water. That is why it is important to consume the high amount of fats on this diet, according to the ratios recommended, and also to have enough ocean sea salt (either in the electrolyte drink I recommend in my article or by adding enough to foods). > I have reduced the Nystatin dose to one capsule three times a day with a Pao d'arco tablet 500mg, and take a multivitamin plus fish oil and calcium/magnesium in the morning. ==>If you only started on the diet a week ago it is too soon to be taking antifungals like Nystatin unless you had been taking it previously and were doing okay. The diet and supplements are required first in order to build up the body, kill of most of the candida, and make your body strong enough to withstand the die-off caused by antifungals - see my article about " when " you start on antifungals in the beginning of that section; and also " when " you start on probiotics. ==>Also I do not recommend taking Pau D'Arco in a tablet; it should be taken as a tea. I do not recommend taking a multivitamin either because the quality will suffer because it is impossible to cram that much into one tablet - take separate vitamins as recommended in my article, i.e. vitamin C, vitamin E, Vitamin B Complex (with niacin in it, and if it doesn't contain niacin also take it in a separate tablet), etc. If you take fish oil you also must take vitamin A, and you should be getting enough vitamin D from the skin, otherwise you need to take cod liver oil which contains omega 3, vitamins A & D. > What can you recommend to overcome feelings of tiredness and > lethargy which now seem to be occuring as a result of the low > sugar/low carbs. Maybe there are drinks which I can make which are > easy to prepare and can be added into the diet. ==>All tiredness and lethargy aren't due to low sugar particularly if you are eating the recommended amount of protein and good fats on this diet because 58% of protein and 10% of fats turn into glucose in the body fulfilling all of your body's needs for blood sugar levels. You probably aren't getting enough good fats. Do not eat too much protein in ratio to fats either because it will cause problems. ==>You should be having the electrolyte drink recommended in my article (lemon juice & ocean sea salt), and you can also have Bee's Egg Drink; see the Recipe Folder under Drinks & Teas, which is excellent for getting enough fats and also raw eggs nature's most perfect food. ==>More than likely your energy levels are low because of energy needed by the body to heal, because you are not taking all of the supplements as recommended, and because you need more good fats. When your energy flags take a teaspoon of coconut oil. > I need to attend job interviews and be alert, so energy levels are > important. At 2pm each day I quite often sit down and find myself > napping for 30-60 mins! I note that almonds contain very few carbs and sugar - are they OK to include in the early stages of the diet. Are there any dairy items which can be included, as this is one food group which I find difficult to exclude? PS thanks for the support. > Pete ==>Almonds are not okay on the candida diet; not only are they irritating to the bowels and very hard to digest, but also they must be soaked in salt water for 7 hours in order to make them fit for human consumption and to remove the phytates and enzymes that block protein and mineral absorption, etc. Have some good fats instead. ==>Butter is the only dairy that is okay because it is extremely low in lactose and galactose (sugars which feed candida). The best in health, Bee P.S. Would you please trim your messages? See our Candida Group Info folder for why and how. Thanks a bunch.
Guest guest
Hi there fats - have been taking nystatin now for 8 months, on Drs advice. This has only served to exacerbate the die-off symptoms without the diet. I have reduced the nystatin dose to half my previous levels, with the intention of using the diet to further surpress the formation fo the yeast. Clearly, there has been improvement in the die-off symptoms since taking this step. Once the diet has been established for a few weeks, I intend to go back to my normal nystatin dose of two 500,000iu capsules three time a day. This should help to eliminate the yeast colonies. I can start on probiotics if the yeast die off symptoms have been eliminated. Thanks for your interest. I will add Vit C supplement. Guest guest
have had difficulty in getting Pau D'Arco as a tea here in Aust. Thought the tablets may be better than nothing. Will try Vit C powder as a supplement. Pete > > > > Hi Bee, have been following the diet now for a week, with some > > improvement in symptoms. Guest guest
Do re-check all of your supplements against what is recommended because the diet and the supplements all work together to provide all the body requires in order to heal. There is a handy list in the Candida Supplements Folder (in the files). I think you may be missing more than just Vitamin C. Cheers, Bee P.S. Would you please trim your messages my friend?
